NYX Powder Puff Lippie

This was such an interesting concept form NYX and I bought two shades months ago and then I was just unmotivated to blog and all… but here I am finally giving my thoughts on this product. So let’s just get straight into it.

Firstly I got the shades Cool intentions and Moody, actually I think they will be pretty good shade choices for the coming Autumn. So the product comes out at the end through the applicator as a cream and then it turns into a mousse-y kind of powder when you apply it to the lips. The application is really easy. I find it really comfortable to wear, actually not even feeling like I have anything on my lips.

153540142356285039579.jpg

15354015373662039995010.jpg

They are pigmented and I don’t find them drying on my lips, however with the shade Moody I did notice it started bleeding after a few hours so would definitely recommend using a lip liner with it.

They don’t feel tacky on the lips, like I said they feel like nothing on the lips. They have a matte finish, which I generally prefer, however unfortunately they do not dry down completely, I don’t think they’re supposed to, so naturally you have to keep reapplying hem throughout the day especially after eating.

I do like these lippies, the only thing I don’t like about them is what I just mentioned. I prefer lipstick that dry down and stay in place. But nontheless I will still use them, cause they are really pretty and comfortable on the lips.

Have you tried this product before? What did you think? If you haven’t, do you want to try them? Let’s have a chat in the comments!

Hope you liked reading this blog post and…

Until next time,

NYX Setting Spray

Settings sprays have changed my life, or at least my make up game for sure. Whenever I used blush and highlighter on my cheeks, I noticed it was gone from my skin after a few hours, and I really didn’t like that. But setting them with a spray means I can actually see my highlighter after wearing it for 10 hrs. If you like to wear a full face of make up, then I think a setting spray should be an essential last step in your routine.

I used to use The Body Shop Vitamin E Mist to set my make up and I really liked using that, but I wanted something that would keep my face as matte as possible all day (#oilyskinproblems). So I decided to pick up the NXY Make Up Setting Spray Matte Finish as I have heard good things about it. I picked up the mattifying one obviously, as they have another one that gives a dewy finish, but it is all about the matte look for me, having an oily skin and all.

psx_20180312_233356547656976.jpg

psx_20180312_233218147080158.jpg

It is a nice mist to use, definitely finer mist that The Body Shop one. I like how it feels on my skin. Like it’s locked all the make up in place without making my skin feel too hard, if that makes sense. It dries down quickly and does not leave my face feeling tacky.

I still get oily on my forehead and cheeks by the end of the day (feel like that’s not really gonna change ever haha), but I definitely notice the effects of using a mattifying primer, a matte foundation and a matte setting spray. They keep the shine to a minimum. The oiliness used to break through after a few hours, whereas now, it is slower and not as heavy on my skin by the end of the day. Not to mention my blush and highlight last all day which I really really like. Especially with powder highlights, it makes the highlight melt into the skin and takes away all the powderiness too.

I think this is a good setting spray from the drugstore, only for £7. Never disappointed in NYX products, it is turning into my fave brand slowly.

I hope you liked this review. Did you ever try this setting spray? Which one is your favourite setting spray?

Until next time,

Mini Boots Haul

One of my fave places to go and have a wonder around is Boots and Superdrug. Last weekend I was out shopping, so naturally I popped into Boots and picked up a few things, and I thought it would be nice for you to see what I got. I really like reading haul posts and watching Youtube haul videos too. So let’s see what I got.

The actual reason I went into Boots (as I only planned on picking up one thing of course), was a lip liner I heard Kathleen Lights talk about. It was the NYX Slide on, Glide on Lip liner in the shade Nude Suede Shoes. I am very happy with that purchase, I mean I knew it would be good, but it is the the creamiest lip liner I have ever tried (hence the name I guess). I really like the colour of it, it is a pretty nude, not too brown, just maybe a shade darker that your lip. Been also wearing it non stop and I forgot to take a picture first so it’s already been sharpened on the photo. Definitely gonna pick up more shades of this lip liner.

Also here is an unedited photo of the swatch too so you can see the colour:

psx_20180220_110622635038534.jpg

The next thing I have been wanting to try out for a while actually, was the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. I have heard good things about it, and about its partner the Dewy Finish one. I wanted the matte one of course, as my face, especially my forehead, tends to get oily during the day. I used it only twice so far, (and I will do a separate blog post on it too) it does minimize the oil breakthrough on my face, but of course after hours of wearing make up, my skin does get a bit oily. I like this setting spray so far.

psx_20180220_1113501133754488.jpg

I didn’t actually need another parfume or body spray at all (I’m trying to use up the ones that I have so I can justify buying a new one haha), but I smelled this one one time before Christmas, and was so sad I didn’t get it then, so I couldn’t miss the opportunity now. Therefore I picked up the Blush Pink body spray by Ted Baker (only for £3). I am terrible at describing scents, to me it is kind of floral scent, which I really like for Spring. If you have a chance, give it a sniff cuz it is really nice.

psx_20180220_1108531810216472.jpg

And the last thing I picked up was a Soap & Glory Rich and Foamous body wash. I have the body lotion, The Daily Smooth, which smells the same and I really liked it, so I wanted to pick up the body wash too. Now I have to perfect combo to keep myself clean and hydrated.

That is all for my mini Boots haul! Which one was your fave? Also did you try any of the products mentioned above?

Hope you have a great Sunday! xx

NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliners

NYX is one of my fave drugstore brands and I am so happy that they have been available in Boots for quite some time now. I feel like they have a lot of fun make up bits to play around with. Not to mention their lip products. I don’t think any other drugstore brand has as many lip products as NYX does. But today I want to write about something different, not lippies. When I first saw these vivid brights eyeliners I knew I had to get my hands on them.

First I tried the blue one, Sapphire, blue being my fave colour. I fell in love with it instantly, so later on I got to more shades. I got the dark purple one, Violet, and the pink one, Petal.

psx_20180123_1044321770723330.jpg

They are very pigmented, which is great, I usually put them on if I don’t fancy bothering with eyeshadows and want something simply yet colorful. But there are many ways to play around with them and I have seem a lot of great pics of them on Instagram.

They do dry down quite fast and I would warn you not to put too much on your eyelids because you can definitely feel them there. I can feel them anyway, especially on the end of my eyes where I draw the winged liner. It doesn’t bother me personally, I get used to it quite quickly, but just wanted to say it in case some of you don’t like that dry eyeliner feeling on your lids.

I got them in three shades, and you can see the swathes of them here:

psx_20180123_104558454251873.jpg

I think they are perfect to brighten up any make up, but they are very pretty on their own.

Here is a very easy make up look with the blue eyeliner:

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat foundation review

I’m not the one to change up my foundation a lot, usually I just stick to the one that works for me. But my skin has been getting a bit oilier recently and I wanted to try and find a specifically mattifying foundation and that’s how I stumbled onto the NYX  Stay Matte but not flat foundation. I have been using it for a weeks on and off and here is what I think about it.

psx_20180109_104410832720620.jpg

First of all it is a water based foundation which I don’t think I have used before, and I think therefore it is quite dry on my skin. You would think because it’s water based it is quite runny but not at all, it has more like a tooth paste texture. First time applying it it felt like paint on my face, until I noticed it said ‘shake well’ on the back, so gave that a go, and it made it feel better on my skin. Using it more you get use to the texture and I actually grew to like it a lot, even though I was quite dubious about it at first.

It says on the packaging that it is full coverage, but it’s not totally full. It covers up most things on my face, but still need concealer after it for any spots or blemishes. With that said it does not feel heavy or think on my face and doesn’t cake up either.

psx_20180109_105025307000394.jpg

psx_20180109_1055221746600982.jpg

psx_20180109_105642572229508.jpg

It does give you a matte finish and it is oil free, so it is definitely good for oily skin, however I notice that my T-zone still get oily after hours of wearing it, especially in work. But that is fine as it doesn’t claim to be long lasting. ( and that’s probably due to my skin care routine which need changing up a bit )

Overall I think it is a good drugstore foundation, only costs 6 pounds. I probably still prefer the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, just because I like to work with a little but runnier texture.

Hope you like this review and please share any tips for applying foundation or what foundation to use for oily skin! Thanks!

Have a great day! xx

Lipstick ready for Autumn

Well as it is already October I thought it was only natural to type up a blog post about my fave lippies for Autumn. So here it is 😊.

As much as Autumn is kind of all about the berry and dark shades I actually like to wear more nude shades as well as the occasional dark shades too. So they’re are both in my faves.

PSX_20171008_145310

The first one that is I really really like for this season is the Maybelline Vivid Matte liquid lipstick in the shade Nude Flush. It gives this perfect pink nude colour to the lips and pretty much goes with every make up look. The only thing is that it doesn’t dry down completely so you feel it being tacky basically throughout the time you’re wearing it, so naturally it does rub off too and it is not long lasting. However it is a very pretty colour and just an absolute must have for every season really.

PSX_20171008_145028

To stay within the natural shades the next lipstick is my other nude fave and it is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lipstick in the shade Pink Cocoa. This one is a darker pinky nude shade but because it is darker it goes better wih the Autumn theme of make ups. This is really the your-lip-shade-but-better colour. It has a satin finish, definitely not long lasting, not that it claims to be.

To go to a bit darker shade, and to express my love for purple toned lippies, my next fave is from the NYX lingerie lipstick line and it is the shade Embellishment. This one has a different formulation and it feels quite moussey on the lips, but also very light and you can barely feel that it is there. It dries down completely and stays put for hours. One of my fave colours to wear.

To mention some berry shades as well in my faves I have chosen another still-could-be-nude-but-it-is-darker than-that shade and it is from The Body Shop. This liquid lipstick is in the shade Nairobi Camellia. It has a slight berry tone to it, although not too much as it is still quite stuble on the lips. This one dries down matte and last longer than all the ones I mentioned before however it is still not long lasting. But smells really good.

PSX_20171008_145146

I left the darkest shade of the bunch to last and it is I think also the darkest lippies I own. I actually bought this months ago but waited for Autumn to really use it as I think it is a typical Autumn colour. It is the Barry M Matte Me Up liquid lipstick in the shade Embellish. ( looks like a theme giving these names to the purple lipsticks haha ) It is this dark purple shade which is perfect for nights out I think. However it would be pretty in the daytime too with winged liner and some lashes. It is a lip paint so it is a very wet formula but dries down matte. It stays on for a quite a long time. I really like the shade and just can’t wait to rock it.

So here are all my fave lippies I am wearing mostly in this season. What are your fave Autumn essential lipsticks? xx

My holiday make up

Summer is the time to be a bit lighter with your make up anyway, but when you’re visiting a hot country then the last thing you want basically is to put make up on your face. Some people do it. I can’t stand feeling like the sun is burning all the makeup I have on my face into my skin. I’m pretty sure it is not very healthy either. However there still a little bit of make up that you can do that will make you feel more put together and pretty on your holidays!

PSX_20170813_185030

So this is the make up I wear during the day. For the evening especially if I go out I do wear a bit of make up but not too much. Bronzer, highlighter, eyeliner and of course some eyeshadows. The one I definitely gonna take on holiday is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics my paradise eye palette. With eyeliner make sure you use a waterproof one just in case you get hot and start sweating. 😉

PSX_20170813_185456

Brows

The one thing I cannot leave anywhere without is filling in my eyebrows. They make me feel put together and my face just looks better when my brows are done even if I have no make up on. The best thing would be to get it tinted before you go on holiday so you don’t have to bother with it, but if you prefer to do it on your own then just go for it. I’d definitely suggest using a gel product to set your brows after you filled them in to make sure they stay put all day and won’t be running down your face.

PSX_20170813_185354

Concealer

Now I know I said I can’t stand make up burning into your face, but another thing I can’t stand is dark cirlces under my eyes. So I use the tiniest amount of concealer to try and hide them. I’m one of those persons that just has dark undereyes, no matter how much I sleep or the eye creams I use they’re still gonna be a bit dark. Of course if your undereyes are not dark, you can just totally miss this step.

PSX_20170813_185554

Mascara

Back in my homecountry it is above 30 degrees pretty much all summer, so the only make up item I used to wear was mascara. This is the perfect way to get a no make up make up look. I like to have really bold lashes anyway so when on holiday and that’s the only thing I put on my eyes I don’t hold back, haha. One tip though, use a waterproof eyeliner on the tightline to make your lashes appear fuller.

PSX_20170813_184845

PSX_20170813_184653

Lips

Holidays to me scream bright vivid lips. It’s the one time where you can get away with using the brigthest and boldest colour. All the bright pink colours are made for holidays.

So this is all the make up I use on holidays. I only put suncream on my face after my skincare routine and I feel like my skin is always grateful for its little make up free holiday too!

What make up do you like to wear on your holidays? xx

Easy spring/summer make up

PSX_20170512_105829

With the sun being more and more out, and the weather getting warmer it truly feels like it is finally spring and summer is not that far away. Which means you can pop a bit more colour in your make up routine and I wanted to show you a pretty easy and simple make up routine that is light and easy.

After cleaning my face, I use the Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer, which has been a favourite of mine for the last couple of weeks. Then I apply primer first. I use Benefit Porefessionals primer, as it does a great job at hiding my giant pores on my cheeks. For foundation I have been using a more watery foundation, and that is the Maybelline fit me foundation in the shade 102. It is very easy to apply blends in very easy, and because it is more watery consistency then creamy, you can barely feel it on your face. Which is perfect for when it gets warmer outside.

PSX_20170512_110113

For under my eyes, to cover up my dark circles, I have been using the Wonder Pencil by NYX. It  does a great job at hiding those dark circle and makes me look more awake and healthy. On top of this I use everyone’s fave concealer, the Collection Lasting Perfection one, in the shade fair. To finish off the base off my face make up , I’m setting everything with the Rimmel stay matte powder.

For my brows, I use the Natural collection eye shadow in crushed walnut. To start off my eye make up, I apply primer first. I use the NYX proof it! eye shadow primer. For my eye lids I’m using the Make Up Revolution palette, and taking the light brown shade for my crease and the lightest shade to cover all my lid. Since I want to go easy on the eye I’m only putting black eye pencil on my upper waterline. To finish off the eyes I use the new L’Oreal baby roll mascara which has become my new fave mascara. Gives such curls!

PSX_20170512_110537

PSX_20170512_110713

Now I go back to finish my base make up and for contour I use Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer, and for blush and highlight I use the Tanya Burr Cosmetics cheek palette in rosy flush.

For my lips I’m also using a new discovery, and that is the Maxfactor matte lipstick in the shade rose. Such a pretty pink shade for this time of the year.

So this is my easy spring/summer make up look. Hope you liked it and recreate it too!

xx

Quick and easy Valentine’s day make up

I knooow that Valentine’s day is either hated or loved, but you can still find yourself just wrapped around with all the cute stuff that comes out around this time of the year. Not to mention all the make up and make up looks. I don’t particularly hate or love Valentine’s day, but since I have a boyfriend , I do want to look pretty for that day. So I though I’d come up with a quick and easy look, that’s perfect for Valentine’s day, but can be worn basically whenever you want to.

In my opinion Valentine’s day just screams red lipstick. It is an essential bit of the whole make up look. And because you’re creating a bold lip, you need to keep your eyes as simple as possible. What I had in my mind, was a more classy, ’50 look, but let me walk you through exactly how to achieve this look.

wp-1486896972539.jpg

wp-1486889315407.jpg

wp-1486889189552.jpg

First thing first is primer. You want your make up to last throughout the whole evening so primer is very important, I use the Benefit Porefessionals primer, as it is one of the best primer out there. It will give you a flawless base to put your make up on. For foundation, I use the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in the shade light porcelain ( yes I am that pale! ). To make under eyes circle disappear or for any blemishes I use everyone’s favourite concealer, the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade fair. It gives you such a nice coverage without being too thick on the skin. Then I set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in the shade transparent.

After this I go onto my eyes and I will finish my face later. First I’m applying NYX Proof it! eye shadow primer, and while it sets, I’ll do my brows. I get my brows tinted, but I still like to fill them in and for that I use the Natural Collection eye shadow in the shade crushed walnut. After this I just brush them into shape, and that’s my eyebrows done. If you want you can set it with a gel, mine just usually doesn’t get messy, so I don’t need it. For my eyes I’m only applying a white, barely-able-to-see eye shadow, and that is from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette in the shade white chocolate. Just to give my eyes some cleanness. After discovering tight lining I can’t do my make up without it. I take my Soap and Glory eyeliner pencil and line my upper lash line. This will give you fuller looking lashes. And finally I use my L’oreal Super Liner eyeliner to create a winged liner, and I’m not going shy with it 😉 To finish off the eye make up I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara.

Now it’s time to finish off my face. For contouring I use the Benefit Hoola bronzer. For blush I take the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Rosy Cheek palette and apply the shade pretty peony. This is a nice pinky shade, not too strong, and it has a golden sheen to it, which I think looks pretty with the red lip look. To finish off my face I use Benefit High Beam to get the most gorgeous highlight (ever!).

Moving on to the lip, I’ll take my Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner and line my lips. Then I apply the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lipstick in the shade Big Kiss. A perfect red to wear on Valentine’s day.

Last but not least, to set everything I’m going to use The Body Shop Vitamin E hydrating face mist. I’ve recently seen it on YouTube that this mist can also be used as a setting spray, and it really does a wonderful job with keeping everything together and on your face all day.

I hope you enjoyed reading this make up look tutorial and that you recreate it!

Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

xoxo
