A few of my favourite things (autumn edition)

I actually have never been a fan of this season until I moved to the UK and here most people really like Autumn, so much that is actually rubbed of on me too and I catch myself enjoying this time of the year very much. So I wanted to share with you all the random things I enjoy the most, which are probably very cliche ones, but oh well… at least it’s #relatable.

PSX_20181028_152914.jpg

PSX_20181028_152317.jpg

1. Knitwear and hats

Let’s start with the first cliche thick jumpers and hats. They keep me warm (obviously), but they are also so cozy and easy to wear. I don’t usually put a lot of thoughts into my outfits so having to throw on a jumper is actually just perfect.

I was the kind of kid who never wanted to wear hats, but growing up and now being 26, I love wearing them. Granted they look a lot better now than they did back then! Also like the fact that you can hide your unwashed hair from the public for a day more, by wearing them. Win win!

2. Hot chocolate

Onto the second cliche one, but I was never one avid hot chocolate drinker in this season, but this year, I’ve already had more than possibly previous years combined. My fave one ver is Costa’s Black Forest Hot Chocolate and I can’t wait to get more and more of it, but I like a homemade chocolate just as much. Fave is at the moment my salted caramel one, with whipped cream and all the marshmallows.

3. TV shows

Autumn and generally winter nights in are perfect to curl up on my bed and watch TV shows and of course eat some food and snacks as well (or better drink a hot chocolate). Some of the TV shows I love at the moment are Riverdale ( of course! ), Supergirl, Dynasty and The Flash. But if I want something absolutely comfortable and cosy to watch Gilmore Girls is the way to go.

4. My bed

Probably the randomest of them all. It is not my dream bed, it’s just a bed that came with the rented house we live in, but I feel like with enough pillows, I managed to make it my fave space in the house. (especially this time of year!)

5. Candles aaaand fairy lights

I always have fairy light on when I sleep anyway, but this season I like to have more of them on and just making the room really cosy and warm, especially when it’s cold and rainy outside.

What can I say candles are really essentials this season, or rather how can you exist without candles lit in your house in this season?? I like vanilla scents a lot and my fave is from Yankeee candles, and it’s their vanilla cupcake one. And I can’ wait to get more festive scented candles burning in December. Also really like candles from Primark their cheap and still smell amazing!

I hope you liked this blog post! What are your fave things that are really autumnal?

Until next time,

Agota xx

April Favourites

I can’t actually remember the last time I did a monthly favourites blog post so I’m excited to share with you what I have been loving in this month. I feel like I have not tried any new product before this month really but I have new make up bits I love and old ones I rediscovered, so let’s get into the blog post…

psx_20180502_1042222036858448.jpg

psx_20180502_1034051195185250.jpg

psx_20180502_103216779400803.jpg

psx_20180502_1033051667177717.jpg

For so long, well all my life possibly, I have been “blessed” with dark undereyes. I doesn’t really matter what cream I put there, they will still be quite dark. I have been using concealers to cover it up, of course, then I saw someone on a YT talking about this product then it hit me, why have I never tried a colour corrector?? So I ordered the Maybelline MasterCamo color correcting pen in pink. I was so surprised how much it cancels out the blue under my eyes. I use concealer after applying this and together they cover up the darkness pretty well. The only thing I’m not really happy with is the twisty applicator… I twist it and have to wait for the product to come out and then later I notice a lot of product coming out, which I still use of course, but you do have to be careful with that. Other than that I’m very happy with this new discovery.

psx_20180502_103800428883902.jpg

psx_20180502_10411270184134.jpg

I don’t really know why I picked up this eyeshadow palette from Superdrug, I mean I have enough nude coloured eyeshadows, but this palette still caught my eyes, and really can you ever have enough nude eyeshadows?? I think no, haha. So this is a palette from Maxfactor with the prettiest shades ever. I like that it has matte and shimmery shadows in it too. I mostly use the mattes one for everyday, also the shimmery shades are very, very shimmery. I think it is good for travelling or going on holiday as you can create really natural looks as well as looks for the evening when you want to go out. Not mad at all that I purchased it.

psx_20180502_1036421079268903.jpg

psx_20180502_1035201242426327.jpg

The next favourite is a product I’m not sure I actually love but yet somehow I keep reaching for it a lot. I got a sample of it in March’s Birchbox and this is the new mascara from Benefit, the BadGal Bang mascara. At first I didn’t really like this mascara, but I can’t deny that it gives big long lashes, I still find it a bit clumpy and I’m still not a big fan of that, but I think it is getting better as it is drying out a little bit. I’m not sure if I would buy it again when this runs out, probably not, but I have to say it is not as bad as I first thought it was. Also I really like how it looks on the bottom lashes.

psx_20180502_1040131324221548.jpg

And lastly I have been loving the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit. (it is a sample size from Birchbox) For so long I have thought it was too dark for my skintone, but it is actually looking really nice when I blend it out. After using a cream contour for so long it was weird to use a powder one and I think powder takes longer for me to blend out. But I have been reaching for this every day this month, really loving the way it shapes my face, and just really enjoyed using it.

So these were all the products I have been loving in the month of April. Have you tried any of these products? What have been your faves this month?

Until next time,

Agota xx

My body lotion collection

Now that hopefully the cold and dry months are coming to an end, I decided to share all the products that have helped my dry body to survive. I have no idea how I accumulated this many body butters and lotions and cream, but I do like each one of them because of their different consistency. And I like to use them different times too and my body needs them.

psx_20180319_104736332629382.jpg

psx_20180319_104512687543925.jpg

I like to use a body butters when my skin feels really dry and I can feel it needing a lot of moisture. However I do not like the thick consistency that much I have to be honest. I usually use these on the weekend, or on days when I can stay in my pjs all day. Because trying to put on skinny jeans after putting on body butter is just the worst! I have The Body Shop Peach body butter, I do love the smell of it, it’s so good! I also have the Snowella Snow Smooth body butter, which has a lighter consistency and it makes my feel skin really smooth actually. I also have another body butter from Soap and Glory, their Daily Smooth body butter, which is not as thick as the Body Shop one, but again I really like the smell, and it sinks in a bit faster.

psx_20180319_104621793452994.jpg

I much prefer lotions and creams, but my fave is probably a whipped body lotion. I enjoy using the Zoella Double Cream body lotion, mostly for the scent. Although it does a good job at moisturizing my skin. My two faves have to be the Zoella Body Pudding, which I like because it sinks in so fast, and it’s just so easy and moisturizing. The other favourite of mine is the Soap and Glory Smoothie Star body lotion. It is a not as light as the body pudding, but sinks is fairly quickly and just love love the smell of it too. Goes perfectly with my same scented shower cream.

So this is my body butter/cream/lotion collection. I hope you liked this blog post and please share your faves in the comments!

Until next time,

Agota xx

Birchbox March 2018

It is that time of the month again, (no not PMS, haha), the time when my monthly Birchbox was delivered. Sharing all that I’ve got is one of my fave posts to write. This month’s theme is self care. I like the packaging even though it is not my fave one, it is very zen I think. So all the product samples included in this box helps you relax, reduce stress and just look after yourself. Let’s see what I got…

psx_20180308_12371177006777.jpg

psx_20180308_1239081661010380.jpg

psx_20180308_124746322440294.jpg

So the first thing I am probably the most excited about it the new Benefit BADgal BANG mascara, which I almost bought when it launched, but luckily I debated so much that I saw that it will be included in every Birchbox this month. So now the wait is over, and I can finally try this mascara. I applied it earlier when doing my makeup and it does give voluminous and thick lashes. The wand is longer than a mascara wand usually is. It is lightweight on the lashes, it almost feels like I have nothing on there. It is a wet formula and it gets clumpy after a few strokes. Overall I do like this mascara, but I think I prefer the Roller Lash from Benefit just because I am not a fan of clumpy lashes.

psx_20180308_124317891379212.jpg

Next thing is a Rituals foaming shower gel. I have received one of their foaming shower gel in a previous Birchbox so I’m excited to try this one too. Hopefully it smells nice. It is infused with cherry blossom and organic rice milk, all supposed to calm your mind and soothe your skin. I think it will be perfect to use in a shower after a long and stressful day.

psx_20180308_12461161526709.jpg

I am also very excited to try something from GLAMGLOW. I see their products all over social media, but I personally have never tried anything from the brand. I got a sample of the SUPERMUD Clearing Mask Treatment, which is essentially a mud mask with activated charcoal and 6 acids. It’s supposed to clear your skin and pores and I like that use can use it as a spot treatment or only on your T-zone. I am lucky enough that I don’t really have spots or blemishes on my skin, but using mud mask usually makes me spotty so I might just try it out on my T-zone and see how it works there.

psx_20180308_1244101446012655.jpg

Something I was really excited to get was an under eye mask for BLAQ. I have been seeing everyone using these, so I have been wanting to give them a try too. Especially since I do have dark under eyes unfortunately, therefore I am curious if these will help  with that. It’s also supposed to get rid of bags and puff and just to make you look well rested. I am all for this!

psx_20180308_124518358366168.jpg

And lastly I have received a Bombshell Blowout Spray from Amika. Not that I am any good at blow-drying my hair, but hopefully spraying this into my hair will make it easier for me. I like the sound of the heat protection it offers too. My hair usually gets flat on the second day so I will be using this to give a bit of volume. Even though I have got thick hair, I have not got a lot of hair so I could always use some extra volume at the top.

psx_20180308_1248531131343329.jpg

That is all I got in this month’s Birchbox. I hope you like this “review” kind of post. What products you liked the most? Do you own or have you ever used any of these products before?

Until next time,

Agota xx

3 must read YA books

I have turned into quite the book worm last year, reading lots of books. Some were better than others. Even though I don’t think any book is bad, I like the ones that I can’t put down, really excited to pick up again and read it, and finish them like in a week. From all the books I’ve read last year three stuck with me the most. These were I think a bit different ones, in terms of that wasn’t just about two teenagers falling in love. And I really liked that. They were just as exciting, if not even more so, but most importantly I found them quite refreshing to read. Can’t take credit though finding these books, as all three was a recommendation of Zoella, two if not all three were included in the Zoella book club as well. What can I say she has good taste in books, definitely matches mine!

So I decided to share the three books I think you should definitely read, if you like reading young adult books.

15186987182171144352956.jpg

1518699030081915699665.jpg

Moxie

This book is about a girl, named Vivian, a shy girl who is a bit fed up with the sexist things going on in her high school. Basically she is fed all the boys getting away with nasty comments, stupid dress codes for girls etc. She then decides to fight back through a feminist zine, she creates in secret, called Moxie. I really liked this book, I think it touches upon a lot of issues that girls in high school go through. It is an empowering read too for us girls. Mainly I just really liked that it’s not just about a shy girl getting together with the new guy in school. I think I read in a few days, it was inspiring and overall I just really liked the different feel to the book.

15186993210751015171366.jpg

Beautiful Broken Things

Staying with the “different” feeling here that a book gives, this one is the first I’ve read in a long time, other than Moxie, that doesn’t have romance as a main focus in the story. Actually it has no boy-girl romance in it, it has something way better, friendship between girls. Maybe it’s just me who has not come across books like this before, but again, this was so refreshing to read. I have always found friendships between girls interesting, and noticed how it was just different from boys being friends. This book is about a girl, Caddy and her best friend Rosie who have been best friends since they were four. Then Rosie befriends a new girl Suzanne in her school, and she sort of comes between the two girls. Also Suzanne has a past full of secrets. I think this book shows so beautifully how complex female friendships are, how two can become three, something I think we have all experienced before. I could legit not put this book down, it was so interesting regarding the story lines and the characters. I would a hundred percent recommend reading this one!

1518699166576284511472.jpg

Holding up the Universe

I am pretty sure that if you like reading YA book, that you have read or at least heard about All the bright places by Jennifer Niven. That book was the best too, so when I saw that this book was also by Jennifer Niven, I knew I had to read it, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. I really like reading stories that kind of written from both of the main characters’ perspectives. This book follows a girl, Libby, who is home schooled because of her weight problems but now is going back to school, and Jack, who is a cool boy in that same school, but suffering from an illness no one knows about. Then they meet and help each other with their problems as they slowly fall in love too. This book really shows, that people are more than what we think of them usually, and that how important it is to find someone who sees you for who you really are.

Hope you liked this post, I really like sharing books I enjoy just as much as make up I enjoy. Did you read any of these books? Which one would you read/is your fave? Also feel free to leave recommendations too!

Until next time,

Agota

February Favourites

It has been soooo long since I’ve written a monthly fave post, I can’t even remember the last time. I usually just stick to the products I like for a long time before trying out something different so, no point writing about the same product every month, I think. However, since the new year started, I did change my makeup routine a bit and tried out new bits that I have been using ever since.

First I wanted to start with a rediscovery, the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara I was obsessed with for so long, then I felt I wanted to try out different mascaras and I didn’t really use it for a while. Then recently I picked it up and I remembered how much I liked it! Don’t really have to go into the details, as I feel like we all own this mascara, but it gives length, volume, and just simply beautiful lashes that are not clumpy at all. If you haven’t tried it yet, then you definitely should, as it is one of the best, if not the best, mascara in the drugstore.

psx_20180227_1027261148313680.jpg

The next thing is the Rimmel Exaggerate eyeliner, I have been using on my tightline for the last two months. I really like it there, it stays put and most importantly it does not run down under my eyes. Granted I do use a setting spray but still, sometimes eyeliners still manage to run down and leave me stuck with patches of black eyeliner at the end of my eye. Not cute, and that have been a struggle for a long time. But a good eyeliner and a setting spray works wonders.

psx_20180227_1026231175279123.jpg

I have been loving another eyeliner that I got it in January’s Birchbox, and it is the Marcelle eyeliner in Charcoal. From the name I expected it to be black to be honest, but it is grey. I have been neglecting my winged eyeliner this year (although knowing me it will come back soon), trying out something different, which ended up being this eyeliner on the outer third of my eyelid. Giving sort of a smokey effect, but not too harsh, perfect for daytime.

psx_20180227_1024541814037927.jpg

Also here is an unedited swatch for both of the liners:

psx_20180227_1029341282959250.jpg

And my last fave for this month is an eyeshadow trio I got in February’s Birchbox  ,it is by the brand The Beauty Crop. I rarely buy new eyeshadows thinking I have enough and I should use those, so I was happy to receive a new one. It is a pretty staple trio, I like the gold and light brown shimmery shades with the dark matte at the bottom. I will say the same thing, I would like the matte one to be a bit lighter shade for the crease, but this way it is a perfect for lining my eyes. I have been enjoying to use this trio for the month of January.

I hope you liked this post! What were you fave products for the months, and are you as excited for spring as I am? I can’t wait for warmer days!

Until next time,

Winter essentials

While some people love winter time and really enjoy the cold weather and wrapping up warm, I much prefer summer and spring, warmer months with lots of sunshine. I do need quite a few stuff to help me through the cold days of winter and everything that comes with that. The thing I really like about this time of the year is cozying up and pampering. So I decided to gather together my “winter essentials” , all the products that help me survive, until the warm weather comes.

1517220306620314885312.jpg

15172204093901131488614.jpg

Hand creams

Definite must haves. I use them all year around anyway, but I definitely reach for them more this time of the year. I absolutely can’t stand when my hands are feeling dry, and I need to moisturize them straight away. I have been loving the Zoella Beauty Winter Wonder Hand hand cream. I have one on my desk, one next to my bed and I also bought another one for when I run out. I love the smell and it sinks is quite quick and leaves my hand feeling super soft. I also like the original hand cream by Zoella Beauty, and I also have to mention another favourite of mine, which is Hand Food by Soap and Glory.

15172206771531614772989.jpg

Body Butter

I have been getting into the habit of using body lotions and butters a lot more last year, in fact I can’t even go on if I don’t use them. And in winter I am more likely to use a body butter, which is thicker and heavier consistency, than your usual body lotion. I use it after taking a shower in the evening, and it helps to make my skin feel better in these drying month. My go to has been The Daily Smooth body butter by Soap and Glory. Love the smell and it doesn’t take ages to sink in.

Hydrating mask

Now my face is oily in the T-zone for sure but on my cheeks I do get dry skin, so I what I found works best for me is a hydrating mask. I really like using The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Sleeping Mask. Put it on after I’ve done my skin care routine for the night and I let it work its magic. I find it sinks in a bit, but you can definitely feel it there in the morning too. I really like how soft my face is after using it. Another thing I use is a cream by Thermaliv, which I received in January’s Birchbox. It is a night cream which also made to hydrate the skin during the night and it slowly becoming a favourite of mine.

1517220578087749266011.jpg

Lip balms

I saved my absolute essential product for last. I am one of those people that live in lip balms, I have it on all the time. Expect when I’m actually wearing something on my lips. Just like I can’t stand the feeling of dry hands, I can’t stand the feeling or dry lips, possibly even more so. I have lip balms scattered around the house, in my bags, on my desk and next to my bed. I love Baby Lips especially, also have a few of Zoella Beauty ones too. I also enjoy using the simple blue Nivea one too.

Hope you liked this post! What are your winter essentials?

NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliners

NYX is one of my fave drugstore brands and I am so happy that they have been available in Boots for quite some time now. I feel like they have a lot of fun make up bits to play around with. Not to mention their lip products. I don’t think any other drugstore brand has as many lip products as NYX does. But today I want to write about something different, not lippies. When I first saw these vivid brights eyeliners I knew I had to get my hands on them.

First I tried the blue one, Sapphire, blue being my fave colour. I fell in love with it instantly, so later on I got to more shades. I got the dark purple one, Violet, and the pink one, Petal.

psx_20180123_1044321770723330.jpg

They are very pigmented, which is great, I usually put them on if I don’t fancy bothering with eyeshadows and want something simply yet colorful. But there are many ways to play around with them and I have seem a lot of great pics of them on Instagram.

They do dry down quite fast and I would warn you not to put too much on your eyelids because you can definitely feel them there. I can feel them anyway, especially on the end of my eyes where I draw the winged liner. It doesn’t bother me personally, I get used to it quite quickly, but just wanted to say it in case some of you don’t like that dry eyeliner feeling on your lids.

I got them in three shades, and you can see the swathes of them here:

psx_20180123_104558454251873.jpg

I think they are perfect to brighten up any make up, but they are very pretty on their own.

Here is a very easy make up look with the blue eyeliner:

I hope you liked this post! Have you ever tried these eyeliners before? Which one is your fave?

Fave make up bits 2017

First of all I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! I will join to everyone who says ‘ I can’t believe that 2017 is gone and it’s 2018!’ . To be honest it wasn’t my fave year ever, but with blogging I think I was happy with my journey. It was all about experimenting, trying to find out how I can fit into this blogging world. I realised I don’t want to put pressure on myself, I just want to blog because I like to talk about make up and beauty and girly things. And since that is what I like to do I couldn’t miss an opportunity to collect all my fave beauty bits from 2017 and share them with you. These are deffo my fave posts to read at all times, so lets get into it.

psx_20180107_1512071582379531.jpg

psx_20180107_1524341885427185.jpg

psx_20180107_1515221380682731.jpg

I love eye shadows. Next to mascara they are my fave make up items, so it was actually really hard to choose my fave. Not gonna lie I almost always use Tanya Burr Cosmetics eye shadows and I love them. I used this palette ( Enchanted dream ) a lot this last year, the shades are so pretty and pigmented, can create and easy day look or a smokey evening look too. This was definitely my fave eye shadow palette of this last year.

psx_20180107_1519091921817128.jpg

I definitely wanted to include a mascara, but it was soooo hard to choose just one, but nonetheless I managed. When I heard that this Lash Paradise mascara from L’Oreal was supposed to a dupe for the Better than sex mascara from Too Faced, it intrigued me instantly. It gives you full lashes, a bit clumpy, but I don’t really mind. It is not too extreme, so perfect for everyday wear. I wore it everyday for my holiday and I have to say it is the perfect mascara to wear for a no make up makeup look.

psx_20180107_1526221489780943.jpg

I am a huge fan of the Porefessionals primer by Benefit, however it is a bit pricey, so I decided to look for a cheaper option from the drugstore. I have to stay I still prefer the Porefessionals, but this primer ( Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser by Maybelline )  is also really good, and cheaper. It has a clear colour to it, and the similar texture as the Porefessionals and it does the job. Hides my giant pores on my face. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for good drugstore primer.

psx_20180107_1522041632624239.jpg

I don’t own a lot of blushes. I never have. Just always had a few to choose from and I just never ventured into trying out lots of blushes. That hasn’t really changed, and for most of last year I was using this NYX blush. It is in the shade baby blush, and you need the tiniest amount as it is very pigmented, but looks beautiful on the skin. I prefer pink blushes anyway and this complements my pale skin perfectly.

psx_20180107_1523311572890649.jpg

psx_20180107_151708595379178.jpg

Another fave product for the cheeks is this Cheek Illuminator by Tanya Burr Cosmetics. Also has a pink undertone, creamy formula, which works well even on top of powder. It is not glittery and gives you a nice and pretty shine.

psx_20180107_1521021253887455.jpg

psx_20180107_1513501220368239.jpg

Lastly it is lip product, cuz I do own many many lippies. Again was hard to choose, but I chose my fave shade from the Matte me up lip paints from BarryM. This was their 35th anniversary limited edition lipkit and I’m happy I got it. It is a perfect dark pink shade lip. Wears easy on the lips, dries down to matte and lasts for hours.

So these were my fave finds for 2017, hope you liked reading about it and don’t forget to share your fave bits in the comments!

Have a nice day!

Lipstick ready for Autumn

Well as it is already October I thought it was only natural to type up a blog post about my fave lippies for Autumn. So here it is 😊.

As much as Autumn is kind of all about the berry and dark shades I actually like to wear more nude shades as well as the occasional dark shades too. So they’re are both in my faves.

PSX_20171008_145310

The first one that is I really really like for this season is the Maybelline Vivid Matte liquid lipstick in the shade Nude Flush. It gives this perfect pink nude colour to the lips and pretty much goes with every make up look. The only thing is that it doesn’t dry down completely so you feel it being tacky basically throughout the time you’re wearing it, so naturally it does rub off too and it is not long lasting. However it is a very pretty colour and just an absolute must have for every season really.

PSX_20171008_145028

To stay within the natural shades the next lipstick is my other nude fave and it is the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lipstick in the shade Pink Cocoa. This one is a darker pinky nude shade but because it is darker it goes better wih the Autumn theme of make ups. This is really the your-lip-shade-but-better colour. It has a satin finish, definitely not long lasting, not that it claims to be.

To go to a bit darker shade, and to express my love for purple toned lippies, my next fave is from the NYX lingerie lipstick line and it is the shade Embellishment. This one has a different formulation and it feels quite moussey on the lips, but also very light and you can barely feel that it is there. It dries down completely and stays put for hours. One of my fave colours to wear.

To mention some berry shades as well in my faves I have chosen another still-could-be-nude-but-it-is-darker than-that shade and it is from The Body Shop. This liquid lipstick is in the shade Nairobi Camellia. It has a slight berry tone to it, although not too much as it is still quite stuble on the lips. This one dries down matte and last longer than all the ones I mentioned before however it is still not long lasting. But smells really good.

I left the darkest shade of the bunch to last and it is I think also the darkest lippies I own. I actually bought this months ago but waited for Autumn to really use it as I think it is a typical Autumn colour. It is the Barry M Matte Me Up liquid lipstick in the shade Embellish. ( looks like a theme giving these names to the purple lipsticks haha ) It is this dark purple shade which is perfect for nights out I think. However it would be pretty in the daytime too with winged liner and some lashes. It is a lip paint so it is a very wet formula but dries down matte. It stays on for a quite a long time. I really like the shade and just can’t wait to rock it.

So here are all my fave lippies I am wearing mostly in this season. What are your fave Autumn essential lipsticks? xx
