April Birchbox

I know everybody says it but I’m so happy we had a few sunny and warm days in the UK. It instantly put me in a better mood and even though it is currently raining outside I still feel like I can get ready for summer, cuz it is well on the way. I have had a busy month, so this Birchbox review is a little late than usual, but I still wanted to write this blog post. The box itself is soo springy and pretty, I can’t get over it. This month’s box is a collaboration with Cath Kidston and I was really excited to receive it. So let’s see what my box contained…

First thing is my fave thing in the box and it is an original Cath Kidston hand creme. I love hand creams I use them all year around so I’m always happy to add a new one to my collection. It smells so gorgeous, flowery, perfect for spring. It sinks in quickly too which is a huge bonus. It is sitting on my desk and I keep reaching for it a lot.

So the second thing is a ModelCo Baked Highlighter, and it is so tiny, probably the smallest product sample I have ever got. I chose it in the shade Frose and it has a pinky undertone, which I like in my highlighters. It is gonna be a perfect addition to my spring make up looks.

Another beauty product I have got is a Beautaniq Beauty Fill and Tame brow gel. It is a vegan formula which is great and it is enriched with aloe leaf extract so it is nourishing for the brows. Also contains glycerin so the brows won’t get crunchy or sticky which is often my issue with brow gels. I like the sound of these and I think it will a perfect product to use after I just got my brows filled in.

I feel like this box is very make up heavy, four product out of five, but I’m not complaining about it haha. So the next sample is a BB cream by Marcelle. It is supposed to hydrate and smooth your skin, giving you a glow that I guess you would want to wear in the spring and summer. It looks a little dark at first but when you blended out it looks better on the skin. As the weather is getting warmer it will be nice to use this instead of a foundation.

Lastly there were a skin care sample in the box too. I got the Lumene Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream. I have actually tried this but only once, I felt like it was a bit heavy on my skin like I could definitely felt like I had applied something onto my face. It did make my skin nice and soft by the morning, but I’ll be careful to use it just because of my oily skin. It has couldberry seed extract , vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to help your skin be luminous by the morning.

So this is all I had in April’s Birchbox, I hope you  enjoyed reading it. Have you tried any of these products before?

Until next time,

Birchbox made me buy it

If you regularly read my blog you know that I am subscribed to Birchbox. If you don’t know what Birchbox is, it is a subscription box service, where every month they will send you a box containing five beauty samples tailored for your beauty needs. I love trying out new products, and it’s great cuz in a lot of the cases you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a product you might not even like.

I want to make this into a series of blog posts eventually. I wanted to make a blog post about the products Birchbox made me buy (bit of a cheating cuz I only bought two of these products, but only because I have not run out of the samples yet, but will definitely purchase the other two as well).

So let’s start with two of the hair products. One of them is a Batiste Dry Shampoo 2 in 1 that I believe I got in my first ever Birchbox. I like it because it is not heavy in my hair and it also conditions my hair too. I like to use it on my second day, just before I go to bed, spraying it on my roots. I like doing it this way because it can really then soak up the grease overnight. It makes my third day hair look semi good, just enough to get through the day before I wash it in the evening.

The other hair product is the Percy and Reed No Oil Oil . I really enjoy using this product! You don’t need to use a lot, I use 2-3 pumps for my hair (medium length). It gives volume, the fact I like about it is that it makes my parting not that obvious to see. I have thick hair, however I don’t have a lot of hair and my parting is usually very obvious. But when I use this it makes my hair look fuller and more. Also it does not weight down my hair at all, or makes it more greasy which is a huge plus! Once I run out of the sample I will be purchasing the full size for sure!

Speaking of purchasing products in full size, I’ve just ordered my second “bottle” of this natural deodorant. First I was reluctant to try it, just cuz I’m so used to traditional deodorants that using this balm felt really weird, but luckily I gave in and tried it and now I love it. I use it every evening after showering. It definitely keeps the smelliness away. I do obviously sweat still but it is not smelly at all. Also a huge plus that it is made of natural ingredients, it makes me so happy I’m not using any chemicals around that area of my body.

The last thing again is still a sample size product that I have not run out yet, but has fallen in love with. Because of my oily skin I like to apply no cream to my face in the evenings after doing my skincare routine, but recently I have noticed my skin actually craving moisture in the evenings as well so this night cream came very handy. It is a night cream by Thermaliv. It makes my skin feel really smooth and soft by the morning, and it doesn’t make it oily either which was something I was worried about. I think it would work really well for any skin type, especially if you have dry skin. Highly recommend!

So this was the first blog post of this series, I will try to do more, it will depend on how many products I purchase from Birchbox, but until then I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post!

Until next time,

Agota xx

My new fave blush

I have quite a fair skin, basically I am really really pale, and that sometimes causes me a bit of a trouble when applying blush. I used to not even use it just cuz I was so bad at applying it. But with the years and practise I think I got okay at it. I’m still afraid that sometimes I look like a clown but using lighter shades and a good brush made a huge difference. I started enjoying using a blush, even got a couple new shades. But I never ever dared to use a cream blush. I’ve always thought that they are so hard to blend, and it would look streaky on my face. But I received this blush in January’s Birchbox , gave it a try and now it is my go to, new fave blush.

So this blusher crayon is by a brand called Lord and Berry (never heard of them before Birchbox) in the shade in Camelia. It is really creamy, easy to blend out. I just simply do a couple of lines on my cheeks and blend is out with a brush, that works better for me than  using my fingers. It has a nice pink shade perfect for my complexion and it just blends into the skin like a dream, giving me a really natural look. I am actually impressed. I did not think I would like a crayon blush, but I have been using it almost every day since I got it.

I do use a setting spray and with that it stays on all day and I usually have my make up on my face for 12 hrs. Although it does not claim to be long lasting it is a nice benefit. If you’re looking for a cream blush (I guess this still counts as cream, just because it is in a pencil/stick from), I would highly recommend getting this one. It retails for £15 on the Birchbox website. I think it is not too expensive as it will last a long time, I have been using it for two months and only sharpened it twice.

I hope you liked this post, I really enjoy sharing great beauty finds like this! Do you prefer cream blushes or powder ones? Which one is your fave?

Until next time,

Birchbox March 2018

It is that time of the month again, (no not PMS, haha), the time when my monthly Birchbox was delivered. Sharing all that I’ve got is one of my fave posts to write. This month’s theme is self care. I like the packaging even though it is not my fave one, it is very zen I think. So all the product samples included in this box helps you relax, reduce stress and just look after yourself. Let’s see what I got…

So the first thing I am probably the most excited about it the new Benefit BADgal BANG mascara, which I almost bought when it launched, but luckily I debated so much that I saw that it will be included in every Birchbox this month. So now the wait is over, and I can finally try this mascara. I applied it earlier when doing my makeup and it does give voluminous and thick lashes. The wand is longer than a mascara wand usually is. It is lightweight on the lashes, it almost feels like I have nothing on there. It is a wet formula and it gets clumpy after a few strokes. Overall I do like this mascara, but I think I prefer the Roller Lash from Benefit just because I am not a fan of clumpy lashes.

Next thing is a Rituals foaming shower gel. I have received one of their foaming shower gel in a previous Birchbox so I’m excited to try this one too. Hopefully it smells nice. It is infused with cherry blossom and organic rice milk, all supposed to calm your mind and soothe your skin. I think it will be perfect to use in a shower after a long and stressful day.

I am also very excited to try something from GLAMGLOW. I see their products all over social media, but I personally have never tried anything from the brand. I got a sample of the SUPERMUD Clearing Mask Treatment, which is essentially a mud mask with activated charcoal and 6 acids. It’s supposed to clear your skin and pores and I like that use can use it as a spot treatment or only on your T-zone. I am lucky enough that I don’t really have spots or blemishes on my skin, but using mud mask usually makes me spotty so I might just try it out on my T-zone and see how it works there.

Something I was really excited to get was an under eye mask for BLAQ. I have been seeing everyone using these, so I have been wanting to give them a try too. Especially since I do have dark under eyes unfortunately, therefore I am curious if these will help  with that. It’s also supposed to get rid of bags and puff and just to make you look well rested. I am all for this!

And lastly I have received a Bombshell Blowout Spray from Amika. Not that I am any good at blow-drying my hair, but hopefully spraying this into my hair will make it easier for me. I like the sound of the heat protection it offers too. My hair usually gets flat on the second day so I will be using this to give a bit of volume. Even though I have got thick hair, I have not got a lot of hair so I could always use some extra volume at the top.

That is all I got in this month’s Birchbox. I hope you like this “review” kind of post. What products you liked the most? Do you own or have you ever used any of these products before?

Until next time,

Agota xx

February Favourites

It has been soooo long since I’ve written a monthly fave post, I can’t even remember the last time. I usually just stick to the products I like for a long time before trying out something different so, no point writing about the same product every month, I think. However, since the new year started, I did change my makeup routine a bit and tried out new bits that I have been using ever since.

First I wanted to start with a rediscovery, the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara I was obsessed with for so long, then I felt I wanted to try out different mascaras and I didn’t really use it for a while. Then recently I picked it up and I remembered how much I liked it! Don’t really have to go into the details, as I feel like we all own this mascara, but it gives length, volume, and just simply beautiful lashes that are not clumpy at all. If you haven’t tried it yet, then you definitely should, as it is one of the best, if not the best, mascara in the drugstore.

The next thing is the Rimmel Exaggerate eyeliner, I have been using on my tightline for the last two months. I really like it there, it stays put and most importantly it does not run down under my eyes. Granted I do use a setting spray but still, sometimes eyeliners still manage to run down and leave me stuck with patches of black eyeliner at the end of my eye. Not cute, and that have been a struggle for a long time. But a good eyeliner and a setting spray works wonders.

I have been loving another eyeliner that I got it in January’s Birchbox, and it is the Marcelle eyeliner in Charcoal. From the name I expected it to be black to be honest, but it is grey. I have been neglecting my winged eyeliner this year (although knowing me it will come back soon), trying out something different, which ended up being this eyeliner on the outer third of my eyelid. Giving sort of a smokey effect, but not too harsh, perfect for daytime.

Also here is an unedited swatch for both of the liners:

And my last fave for this month is an eyeshadow trio I got in February’s Birchbox  ,it is by the brand The Beauty Crop. I rarely buy new eyeshadows thinking I have enough and I should use those, so I was happy to receive a new one. It is a pretty staple trio, I like the gold and light brown shimmery shades with the dark matte at the bottom. I will say the same thing, I would like the matte one to be a bit lighter shade for the crease, but this way it is a perfect for lining my eyes. I have been enjoying to use this trio for the month of January.

I hope you liked this post! What were you fave products for the months, and are you as excited for spring as I am? I can’t wait for warmer days!

Until next time,

Agota xx

Birchbox February 2018

In case I have forgotten to tell you in the previous post, happy February! Since it is still the beginning of the month, I have received my Birchbox (yaaay) so it was only natural to write up a little blog post on all the things I got. I said this about last month’s box too, but this box design is again so pretty, definitely my fave so far. This month we could choose the design of the box and I choose the ’90 one. Being the kid of the ’90 I really really like the colours, the patters, it does reminds me a lot of my childhood. (That pastel pink is so my colour!)

So let’s see what I have received:

First thing is an eyeshadow trio by The Beauty Crop in Love You So Latte ( haha like the name ). It looks like it has pretty shades in there, two shimmery and one matte. I would maybe prefer that dark matte shade to be a bit lighter for a transition shade, but I can see where they were going with it. According to the leaflet that comes with the box, these eyeshadows are enriched with coffee extracts to brighten, which sounds intriguing. I like playing around with new eyeshadow so can’t wait to give this a go.

Second thing I received was a colour correcting stick by ModelCo. I personally have not really ventured into the world of colour correcting, but I do have one green colour correcting product by Nip+Fab. I like to use green shades on my spots, especially since I often decide to squeeze them after doing my skincare and before applying make up. (bet that’s just me!) I think I will prefer this one as it is in a stick form, not liquid, so for me it will be easier to apply and blend out.

Then I have received another make up item, which I can’t complain about really, it is a cream blush highlighter by LAQA and Co. It is in a peachy shade, which is new for me as I tend to gravitate toward pink blushes, because they suit me better. However it does not seem to be that pigmented so I will definitely try it out as a highlihter and see how it work with my skintone.

The last two products I got are both hair products, which I don’t think has happened before, but again not complaining. First is a finishing polish by Percy and Reed. I have received samples of their products through Birchbox before so I was excited to get another one. It can be used to style your hair, I guess like a liquid hairspray, give it texture and shine. Intrigued to see how this works in my hair, if it smooths and detangles, I’ll be all for it.

And lastly I have received a hair mask by Luseta. I got a conditioner last month from the same brand and I was happy with that, so now I’m excited to try out this hair mask. I never really do anything like that with my hair, other than shampoo and conditioner, but it could definitely do with more useful products for sure. It is designed to repair and restucture, also it has acids and vitamins in it to make your hair soft and silky. My hair has been so dry this winter, so I’m sold and can’t wait to try this out.

These are all the products I have got this month. I’m really happy with it and still really like the desing of the box, already thinking about how I can reuse it, haha.

Hope you liked this post! Which one is your fave sample of the box?

Birchbox x Ohh Deer

The new year started with my fave Birchbox ever. I love stationery, almost as much as make up, and this month Birchbox teamed up with Ohh Deer, a British stationary brand. I have never heard of them, and now I know they also do a subscription box I am so tempted to subscribe. I love the design of the box so much. The colours are right up my street, it’s also very pretty and a perfect thing to brighten up your blue January.

So lets’s see what I got in this month’s box:

This box was sort of make up heavy and I don’t mind that at all. So first thing is a crayon blush from Lord and Berry. Having been given the choice I went for the pinkier shade, Camelia. I have never used crayon blush before, usually even stay away from creamy blushes, so I am excited to see how easy it is to blend and work with. Swatching it on my hand, it has a creamy texture and does blend out easy, so my hopes are definitely up.

Next item is a waterproof eyeliner from Marcelle. Now I use eyeliner basically everyday, I use the pencil ones usually on my tightline. It is lucky that this is waterproof because you need a waterproof eyeliner for your tightline for sure, otherwise it’ll disappear within an hour. This eyeliner has a soft texture, glides on my hand easily as I’m swatching it. It promises to be smudge resistant and to stay put all day. Intrigued! It says the colour of it is charcoal, but it is more dark gray than black, so it’ll definitely give you a softer less dramatic look, I expect. Still I can’t wait to try it!

Moving from make up bits to skincare, this box contains a night cream from Thermaliv. I like to stay away from night creams, because I find that they make my skin oilier, so leaving it clean after I take my make up off in the evening is the best thing to do for me. This night cream promises to hydrate your skin during the night when you can’t get enough sleep. I do get dry skin in this winter months, so I will give this a go, see how it works. It has a very light scent to it, and gets quickly absorbed in my hand as I try it out. I do hope it’ll work for me.

Moving from face to hair the next thing is a Keratin Smooth Conditioner by Luseta Beauty. It promises to moisture your hair, leaving it soft and shiny. This conditioner is good for damaged hair, which I almost always have, and supposed to work from inside out. Gonna try the next time I wash my hair as I have never been disappointed with and of the samples Birchbox has sent me hair-wise.

Lastly in the box is an Amazing Makeup Remover cloth by Afterspa. It does sound amazing as it says you only need warm water and the cloth to remove your makeup. I have to try it to be honest to believe it does work like that. Only downside is that you should wash it in the washing machine after every use, and I only do my laundry once a week, but wear makeup like 5 or 6 days of the week. But that’s just my issue really. Very very curios to see how it works!

They also included loads of stickers for bonus, love it!

So this was the first Birchbox of 2018! Hope you like this blog post and all the review of the products!

If you have a subscription as well, what did you get in your box?

Hope you have a lovely day! xx

December Birchbox

I really like this time of any month when I receive my Birchbox. As Christmas is coming it feels like now just another present to get. First of all as much as I love Birchbox I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a Christmas theme for this month, but I still received a very beautiful box, with the prettiest design ever. So not complaining at all, just noticing.

So let’s see what I have got in this month’s box.

In this little tub I have got a sample of the Baija Paris Caramelised Honey Body Scurb. It smells divine actually, and comes really handy for this season when exfoliating and moisturizing are so important. Putting it in my shower right away, or I mean after I photographed it.

Next one is a product I have never heard about but am very intrigued by and it is by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. It is a lip primer. I so like the concept of it as it’s supposed to sooth and hydrate the lips before applying any lip colour. I have a feeling it’s gonna be perfect for matte lippies which I do love to wear.

Something I like applying in the evening is an eye cream, as I always have dark circles under my eyes and I find eye creams make them less dark, so I’m happy I have received a Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream. It has all the natural ingredients that help your under-eyes look as best as they can.

Funny thing is with this next item is that I almost bought it on the Birchbox website a few weeks ago and very happy that I didn’t as I got it in the box. Hurray! It is a Spectrum Collection B034 angled blender brush. I thinks it’ll work perfect for the crease and blending eye shadow there.

Lastly it is my fave thing of the bunch, a matte lipstick in a dark berry\red shade. It’s from LOC and and it is super smooth, very pigmented and promised to stay in all night, without drying. Will be perfect for Christmas as to my shame I was lacking a red lippie. Here’s a swatch too.

So that is all I got in December Birchbox, hope you like this little review of the samples I received. It certainly made my day a very good one!

Have a lovely day!

Birchbox x Vogue aka November Birchbox

So, I have been subscribed to Birchbox since March and every time I receive a box I totally plan on blogging about it but then I always forget. I want this bad habit to stop so here it is, my first Birchbox review.

For this month Birchbox has teamed up with Vogue to let them pick the best of the best beauty products, so we have can try them out. For anyone who doesn’t know what Birchbox is, here is the link to their website, but basically it’s an online service where you can subscribe and they send you a box of 5 or six samples to try out all based on your personal needs. I like that I get to try out brand I have not heard of before or products that I have wanted to try out, but didn’t want to spend the money on them.

This box has five products inside and I am genuinely excited to try them all out.  So the first product is the well known, Benefit Hoola Bronzer. I’m almost sure that everyone has heard of this bronzer before and almost everyone has it too, but with this month’s box everyone gets a free sample of it. ( I have a sample of this product from before so happy to have another one that again keeps me from spending money on the full one, haha ).

Next item I got is the Percy and Reed Smooth, Sealed and Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil. ( what a long name! ). I have previously received a Percy and Reed product before and I was quite happy with it, so I actually have high expectation of this one. It’s supposed to nourish your hair, give it volume and protect from heat. Sounds very promising.

I have never tried any Clarins product before to my shame, so I’m happy to get the chance now with the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream. It’ supposed to be the best hand cream out there according to Vogue and it really is good. Of course I had to try it out straight away and I can confirm it is not greasy, sinks in fast and also smells sooo good, like an expensive hand cream would.

Top coats are a a girl’s best friend when it comes to painting our nails as it saves us a lot of time and to be honest I’m more motivated to do my nail if I don’t have to wait around for hours for them to dry. So this next item is a top coat nail polish form Seche Vite, and it claims to be a dry fast top coat that has a unique formula that penetrates through your nail polish and makes it solid and long lasting ( according to the leaflet that came with the box ).  Can’t even tell you how excited I am to give this a try!

And lastly I got a brush cleaner tool. I tend to clean my brushes quite regularly even if it’s not my fave chores so, hoping this will make it a better experience. I have been wanting to get a tool like this for ages, so now I finally have it. Here’s to cleaning your brushes regularly!

So that is everything I have recieved in November’s Birchbox, I hope you liked this little review\ first impression of the products.
