Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara review

I have had this mascara sitting in my drawer for months now and I finally opened it up and started using it. I found this mascara in TK Maxx for £4. Since Covergirl is not available in the UK I was really happy to have found it. I just could not leave it there. So this is the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara.

The first very noticeable thing is that it has a stiff applicator with little bristles in the end. It is quite hard of a material so I’d say be careful when applying as it can be a little hard on the roots of the lashes. I can feel it scratch it sometimes when I apply too close to the roots.

For the first layer it is quite subtle, but it can definitely be build up. I think it’s good that it can be worn just easy everyday mascara with just a few layers or can be layered up for a more dramatic look.

As the name would suggest it does not clump up, which is a bonus, I am not really a big fan of clumpy lashes and this mascara does a good job of separating my lashes yet still giving them volume and thickness.

psx_20180610_130036601853007.jpg

I would say it is very black, which is what I like, and also waterproof. I does stay put all day, does not print anywhere around my eye, even when I’m just sweating so much.

For a waterproof mascara I was worried that taking it ott would be hard, but it actually comes off fairly easily. I tried it both with a make up remover and a cotton pad, also with cleansing butter. Both ways remover any traces of mascara.

I will be definitely using this mascara a lot, because I find it is perfect for summery sweaty days when I don’t have to worry about it running down my face.

Hope you liked this review, and let me know if you tried this mascara or any other mascara by Covergirl!

Until next time,

Agota xx

Birchbox February 2018

In case I have forgotten to tell you in the previous post, happy February! Since it is still the beginning of the month, I have received my Birchbox (yaaay) so it was only natural to write up a little blog post on all the things I got. I said this about last month’s box too, but this box design is again so pretty, definitely my fave so far. This month we could choose the design of the box and I choose the ’90 one. Being the kid of the ’90 I really really like the colours, the patters, it does reminds me a lot of my childhood. (That pastel pink is so my colour!)

psx_20180208_1149221279466197.jpg

So let’s see what I have received:

First thing is an eyeshadow trio by The Beauty Crop in Love You So Latte ( haha like the name ). It looks like it has pretty shades in there, two shimmery and one matte. I would maybe prefer that dark matte shade to be a bit lighter for a transition shade, but I can see where they were going with it. According to the leaflet that comes with the box, these eyeshadows are enriched with coffee extracts to brighten, which sounds intriguing. I like playing around with new eyeshadow so can’t wait to give this a go.

psx_20180208_1150312067032290.jpg

Second thing I received was a colour correcting stick by ModelCo. I personally have not really ventured into the world of colour correcting, but I do have one green colour correcting product by Nip+Fab. I like to use green shades on my spots, especially since I often decide to squeeze them after doing my skincare and before applying make up. (bet that’s just me!) I think I will prefer this one as it is in a stick form, not liquid, so for me it will be easier to apply and blend out.

psx_20180208_1153571934434876.jpg

Then I have received another make up item, which I can’t complain about really, it is a cream blush highlighter by LAQA and Co. It is in a peachy shade, which is new for me as I tend to gravitate toward pink blushes, because they suit me better. However it does not seem to be that pigmented so I will definitely try it out as a highlihter and see how it work with my skintone.

psx_20180208_1151291523362936.jpg

The last two products I got are both hair products, which I don’t think has happened before, but again not complaining. First is a finishing polish by Percy and Reed. I have received samples of their products through Birchbox before so I was excited to get another one. It can be used to style your hair, I guess like a liquid hairspray, give it texture and shine. Intrigued to see how this works in my hair, if it smooths and detangles, I’ll be all for it.

And lastly I have received a hair mask by Luseta. I got a conditioner last month from the same brand and I was happy with that, so now I’m excited to try out this hair mask. I never really do anything like that with my hair, other than shampoo and conditioner, but it could definitely do with more useful products for sure. It is designed to repair and restucture, also it has acids and vitamins in it to make your hair soft and silky. My hair has been so dry this winter, so I’m sold and can’t wait to try this out.

These are all the products I have got this month. I’m really happy with it and still really like the desing of the box, already thinking about how I can reuse it, haha.

Hope you liked this post! Which one is your fave sample of the box?

Current Beauty Obssesions

I haven’t been doing monthly faves for a while so I decided to pick all my fave beauty products at the moment and share them with you!

Soap and Glory shower and body lotion products

First of all I’d like to write about some of the new shower and body products that I have been loving in the past month.  I have never tried any Soap and Glory products before since living here in the UK for three years but I have heard good things about them so I decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed at all. Both the Orangegasm and the Clean On Me shower gels are really good. I use the Orangegasm when I feel I need to be energized for the day. With the Clean on me shower gel I like the fact that it has built in  body lotion as well and it really leaves my skin feel soft and smooth after the shower.

The other two discoveries are actually almost the same product just in different forms. One is the Daily Smooth body butter and the other one is The Smoothie deep moisturizing milk. Both have the same scents to them but obviously the butter has a thicker texture than the milk. Even though I find the milk to be thicker that just a normal body lotion. I find them to do a great job at moisturizing my body all day and I’ve just been really enjoying using them in these past months.

Burberry Weekend perfume

I have had my eyes on this perfume for more then a year now and now I finally decided to treat myself and get it. I’m not really good at describing scents really so I’m just gonna put the information here that I fund on the Burberry website so you can get an idea what it smells like. I would highly recommend though to pop into boots and give it a little sniff if you can.

A sheer fragrance with top notes of tangerine, tree sap and reseda plant. Delicate floral heart notes of wild rose, peach blossom, iris and hyacinth, invigorated by a subtle splash of nectarine. The low notes of cedar wood and sandalwood add depth for a relaxed and fresh scent

YSL The Shock mascara

This is one of my newly found mascaras and I’m in love with it. It gives you sooo much volume and just basically feels like it doubles the sizes of your lashes. It has an hour shape kind of wand with medium bristles. It does smell pretty nice for a mascara too, almost like a hand cream. It can easily clamp up though so be careful not to apply too many coats. But overall it is a really good high end mascara and I feel like it’s definitely worth the money.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

After using creamy foundations for years I wanted to try out a bit more watery consistency of a foundation. I rarely try new foundations as I like to stick with the ones I know I like and work great for my skin, but I’m lucky I did find try out this one. It comes in a lot of shades so it’s guaranteed that you’ll find a match for your skin colour. I am shade 102. I really like the feel of it on the skin, it is thinner on the skin and you can’t feel it on the skin either which is what I prefer with foundations. It lasts good on my all day does not cake up, overall it is a good drugstore foundation.

L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara blue and black

As I said I don’t really like to change up my foundation, however I’m always on the lookout for new mascaras and I really like trying out new ones. I have been really unlucky finding not so great mascaras in the past so I was sooo happy with this one as it did it’s job and gave me fab lashes. It is a more drier formula so probably easier to apply. It gives you really curly and lifted lashes. Doesn’t really clamp up thanks to its dry formula. A really good and affordable drugstore mascara and the best thing abut is that it comes in colours too. So naturally I had to purchase a blue mascara as well. They also sell purple and turquoise coloured ones as well. Can’t wait to try those ones out too.

PSX_20170705_110355

Max Factor matte lipstick

With my mascara collection growing I don’t particularly mind if my lipstick collection grows with it too. They are my two fave make up items. I have been loving matte lippies as they are really on trend now , and every brand is releasing their own matte lipstick or liquid matte lipsticks lip paint, name it, a brand has already come up with it. I usually prefer a liquid form that dries down but I saw these lipstick in a Youtube video and I just had to get one of them when I was in Superdrug. I chose the shade Rose which is this really lovely pink shade that I also used in my spring summer make up look tutorial as well. It is a matte lipstick but it is not drying on the lips and actually it stays on for quite a while. I will definitely be purchasing more shades of this lipstick as it is slowly becoming my fave lipstick and the one I reach for the most.

I hope you liked reading this blog post! What are your current beauty obsessions?

Hope you’re having a lovely day/night! xx

Easy spring/summer make up

PSX_20170512_105829

With the sun being more and more out, and the weather getting warmer it truly feels like it is finally spring and summer is not that far away. Which means you can pop a bit more colour in your make up routine and I wanted to show you a pretty easy and simple make up routine that is light and easy.

After cleaning my face, I use the Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer, which has been a favourite of mine for the last couple of weeks. Then I apply primer first. I use Benefit Porefessionals primer, as it does a great job at hiding my giant pores on my cheeks. For foundation I have been using a more watery foundation, and that is the Maybelline fit me foundation in the shade 102. It is very easy to apply blends in very easy, and because it is more watery consistency then creamy, you can barely feel it on your face. Which is perfect for when it gets warmer outside.

PSX_20170512_110113

For under my eyes, to cover up my dark circles, I have been using the Wonder Pencil by NYX. It  does a great job at hiding those dark circle and makes me look more awake and healthy. On top of this I use everyone’s fave concealer, the Collection Lasting Perfection one, in the shade fair. To finish off the base off my face make up , I’m setting everything with the Rimmel stay matte powder.

For my brows, I use the Natural collection eye shadow in crushed walnut. To start off my eye make up, I apply primer first. I use the NYX proof it! eye shadow primer. For my eye lids I’m using the Make Up Revolution palette, and taking the light brown shade for my crease and the lightest shade to cover all my lid. Since I want to go easy on the eye I’m only putting black eye pencil on my upper waterline. To finish off the eyes I use the new L’Oreal baby roll mascara which has become my new fave mascara. Gives such curls!

PSX_20170512_110537

PSX_20170512_110713

Now I go back to finish my base make up and for contour I use Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer, and for blush and highlight I use the Tanya Burr Cosmetics cheek palette in rosy flush.

For my lips I’m also using a new discovery, and that is the Maxfactor matte lipstick in the shade rose. Such a pretty pink shade for this time of the year.

So this is my easy spring/summer make up look. Hope you liked it and recreate it too!

BarryM Matte Me Up lip kit review

I was soooo excited when Barry M introduced the new lip kits. As soon as my budget let me I got all three and I’m here to tell you what I think about them.

I don’t own any other lip kits ( especially not the Kylie ones unfortunately) so I can’t compare them to anything else. The one thing that is definitely true that they are cheaper than the Kylie cosmetics ones as they retail for £6.99.

I have mentioned it another blog posts that I’m a sucker for matte lips and Barry M does lip liner so well anyway, these lip kits instantly got my expectation pretty high.

wp-1489326967153.jpg

I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. I love all three shades and everything about them.

So the lip kits come in three shades, To Go, Pose and Runway. They contain a lip liner and a matte lip paint. First of all let me talk about the lip liners. As I said Barry M does really good lip liner. They glide on the lips, without pulling it and they are very pigmented. If you want to you can even wear them on their own without the lip paint.

wp-1489326864841.jpg

wp-1489326729568.jpg

Speaking of the lip paints, they do feel like paint. So light formulation allows you to legit paint your lips with it, even the Too faced matte lipstick don’t glide on that easily as these ones. You get the true colour of the lip paint once you let it dry.

They stay on for soo long, even after eating food, and I had a hard time removing them with a wipe when I was taking photos… so if you want something that will last all day, definitely give these a try, because just like me you won’t be disappointed.

February faves

Another month has gone from 2017, it is really crazy how fast time goes. But to be honest I can’t wait for spring and summer, and just generally more sunshine. In the meantime, while we’re waiting, what better to do than try out new beauty bits, and then blog about them, right? 😉 So let’s get into all the products I discovered and loved in the month of February.

wp-1489144693299.jpg

wp-1489144842998.jpg

The Body Shop Seaweed Oil Balancing Clay Mask

At the beginning of the month I took a trip to The Body Shop, because I wanted to try out new skincare bit and bobs. The first thing to catch my eye was the seaweed clay mask for oily and combination skin. Masks never really have been a part of my skin care routine, but always wanted to try a clay mask. So I did, and I have to say I really like it. It works like every clay mask I imagine, you put the clay onto your skin, leave it for 10 mins to dry and work its magic. My skin feels extra clean after it and really smooth. Beware though, that this mask will probably draw out your spots and zits, but that is all okay, because that’s what a mask is supposed to do. Also be careful when you’re taking it off, so wet your whole face before starting to wash it off, so that you won’t pull your face with dried clay on it (ouchhh!) .

wp-1489144931324.jpg

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I’m probably the only beauty blogger who hasn’t tried and used this sponge yet. Somehow I was always using brushes and my fingers to apply foundation and to be honest I rarely think about changing things up in my make up routine, but I thought it was time to give this sponge a chance. So compared to a brush, using a sponge to blend in your foundation is a way better choice. With dabbing the foundation onto the skin, you can work it in really well, I find it gives more coverage as I’m not pulling my foundation on my face. Overall it gives you a better and flawless finish, it’s soo easy to use and absolutely worth the money and now I couldn’t go back to using my brushes or fingers.

wp-1489145262652.jpg

The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid

I am a sucker for a matte lippie. No matter how many I own already I know that I will always want more. I like wearing matte lipstick on my lips more than non matte ones. I like that they are dry and stay put all day, and because I have my teeth sticking out I don’t have to worry about lipstick getting on them all the time. So it was inevitable to try out some of the Body Shop matte lipstick as well. I got two shades Tapei Orchid which is a bright pinky shade, the perfect kind of pink I like, another one is Nairobi Camellia which is a darker pinky shade. They stay put for hours and they don’t dry my lips. Oh and they smell soo sweet and good. The formulation is thicker than the Too faced or Barry M ones, but they are very easy to apply nonetheless.

wp-1489145340452.jpg

Benefit POREfessional primer

This was safe to say my best find in February. I splurged out on a Benefit Porefessional primer and it has changed so much in my make up routine. I have giant pores on my cheek near my nose, and I always hated them. I usually just used my foundation to cover them up, and make them disappear, but then I got a sample of this product last Christmas and tried it out and fell in love with it. It has a silky consistency, it is transparent and it makes your pores invisible. Win,win, win! I know it is on the pricey side, but everybody is raving about it for a reason, it is that good.

wp-1489145450263.jpg

The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Mask

After the cold winter months, I find that using a moisturizer in the morning is not enough for my face anymore, it still feels dry like a plant that really needs watering. So I was very happy when I found this Body Shop Vitamin E sink in Mask. It feels like gelatin in a tub, and you apply it before going to bed, after you’ve done your skincare routine of course, and leave it in for overnight, wash it off the next morning. My skin feels so soft and nice after using it.  Would absolutely recommend if you have dry skin, using it twice a week will work wonders, I can promise you that.

So these were all my fave for the month of February. What were you’re fave products that you discovered?

Quick and easy Valentine’s day make up

I knooow that Valentine’s day is either hated or loved, but you can still find yourself just wrapped around with all the cute stuff that comes out around this time of the year. Not to mention all the make up and make up looks. I don’t particularly hate or love Valentine’s day, but since I have a boyfriend , I do want to look pretty for that day. So I though I’d come up with a quick and easy look, that’s perfect for Valentine’s day, but can be worn basically whenever you want to.

In my opinion Valentine’s day just screams red lipstick. It is an essential bit of the whole make up look. And because you’re creating a bold lip, you need to keep your eyes as simple as possible. What I had in my mind, was a more classy, ’50 look, but let me walk you through exactly how to achieve this look.

wp-1486896972539.jpg

wp-1486889315407.jpg

wp-1486889189552.jpg

First thing first is primer. You want your make up to last throughout the whole evening so primer is very important, I use the Benefit Porefessionals primer, as it is one of the best primer out there. It will give you a flawless base to put your make up on. For foundation, I use the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in the shade light porcelain ( yes I am that pale! ). To make under eyes circle disappear or for any blemishes I use everyone’s favourite concealer, the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade fair. It gives you such a nice coverage without being too thick on the skin. Then I set everything with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in the shade transparent.

After this I go onto my eyes and I will finish my face later. First I’m applying NYX Proof it! eye shadow primer, and while it sets, I’ll do my brows. I get my brows tinted, but I still like to fill them in and for that I use the Natural Collection eye shadow in the shade crushed walnut. After this I just brush them into shape, and that’s my eyebrows done. If you want you can set it with a gel, mine just usually doesn’t get messy, so I don’t need it. For my eyes I’m only applying a white, barely-able-to-see eye shadow, and that is from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette in the shade white chocolate. Just to give my eyes some cleanness. After discovering tight lining I can’t do my make up without it. I take my Soap and Glory eyeliner pencil and line my upper lash line. This will give you fuller looking lashes. And finally I use my L’oreal Super Liner eyeliner to create a winged liner, and I’m not going shy with it 😉 To finish off the eye make up I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara.

Now it’s time to finish off my face. For contouring I use the Benefit Hoola bronzer. For blush I take the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Rosy Cheek palette and apply the shade pretty peony. This is a nice pinky shade, not too strong, and it has a golden sheen to it, which I think looks pretty with the red lip look. To finish off my face I use Benefit High Beam to get the most gorgeous highlight (ever!).

Moving on to the lip, I’ll take my Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner and line my lips. Then I apply the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lipstick in the shade Big Kiss. A perfect red to wear on Valentine’s day.

Last but not least, to set everything I’m going to use The Body Shop Vitamin E hydrating face mist. I’ve recently seen it on YouTube that this mist can also be used as a setting spray, and it really does a wonderful job with keeping everything together and on your face all day.

I hope you enjoyed reading this make up look tutorial and that you recreate it!

Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

xoxo
