A few of my favourite things (autumn edition)

I actually have never been a fan of this season until I moved to the UK and here most people really like Autumn, so much that is actually rubbed of on me too and I catch myself enjoying this time of the year very much. So I wanted to share with you all the random things I enjoy the most, which are probably very cliche ones, but oh well… at least it’s #relatable.

PSX_20181028_152317.jpg

1. Knitwear and hats

Let’s start with the first cliche thick jumpers and hats. They keep me warm (obviously), but they are also so cozy and easy to wear. I don’t usually put a lot of thoughts into my outfits so having to throw on a jumper is actually just perfect.

I was the kind of kid who never wanted to wear hats, but growing up and now being 26, I love wearing them. Granted they look a lot better now than they did back then! Also like the fact that you can hide your unwashed hair from the public for a day more, by wearing them. Win win!

2. Hot chocolate

Onto the second cliche one, but I was never one avid hot chocolate drinker in this season, but this year, I’ve already had more than possibly previous years combined. My fave one ver is Costa’s Black Forest Hot Chocolate and I can’t wait to get more and more of it, but I like a homemade chocolate just as much. Fave is at the moment my salted caramel one, with whipped cream and all the marshmallows.

3. TV shows

Autumn and generally winter nights in are perfect to curl up on my bed and watch TV shows and of course eat some food and snacks as well (or better drink a hot chocolate). Some of the TV shows I love at the moment are Riverdale ( of course! ), Supergirl, Dynasty and The Flash. But if I want something absolutely comfortable and cosy to watch Gilmore Girls is the way to go.

4. My bed

Probably the randomest of them all. It is not my dream bed, it’s just a bed that came with the rented house we live in, but I feel like with enough pillows, I managed to make it my fave space in the house. (especially this time of year!)

5. Candles aaaand fairy lights

I always have fairy light on when I sleep anyway, but this season I like to have more of them on and just making the room really cosy and warm, especially when it’s cold and rainy outside.

What can I say candles are really essentials this season, or rather how can you exist without candles lit in your house in this season?? I like vanilla scents a lot and my fave is from Yankeee candles, and it’s their vanilla cupcake one. And I can’ wait to get more festive scented candles burning in December. Also really like candles from Primark their cheap and still smell amazing!

I hope you liked this blog post! What are your fave things that are really autumnal?

Stila Stay all day liquid lipsticks

Heyyy there and welcome back to another blog post! Today I wanted to talk about my new fave lippies and these are the Stila Stay all day liquid lipsticks. I have got three minis, to be honest it was cheaper to get three minis then one full size so I opted for this because I wanted to try out more shades. So let’s get into my opinion.

PSX_20181021_133333.jpg

First of all I really like the shades I got, which are Perla, Patina and Serenata. They were a nude little bundle I got off from Birchbox. When first applied I found them very creamy almost watery consistency, but nonetheless they are really pigmented and just one swipe gives full a colour payoff.

They are comfortable on the lips, almost lightweight, you don’t feel you have anything on the lips. They of course dry down matte, however they are not fully transferproof, I have noticed that can see them on my mugs and the food I’m eating, also it tends to rub off  on the inner part on the lips with food too. Also find they are drying on the lips after hours of wearing them, but they do stay on for a long time.

I would recommend exfoliating your lips before using the lipsticks, because of their consistency they will definitely emphasize a chapped lip. They come off very easily, I don’t necessarily need a cleansing balm to take them off, a wet wipe will do the job.

PSX_20181021_134132.jpg

All in all I do like these lipsticks, they are comfortable and I really like the shades however I still prefer the Stay Matte Inks from Maybelline ( if I had to choose), which are also cheaper and have a great shade selection too.

I hope you liked this review. Have you tried the liquid lipstick before? Do you like them? Let me know in the comments below.

My first attempt at a cut crease…

Hiii and welcome back to another blog post! This time I thought I would experiment with something I have never done before. I am usually not too adventurous when it comes to my make up, but I have always liked looks with a cut crease, however I was always too afraid to try it. So I needed to remind myself that make up washes off and it is fun to play around with. Luckily it didn’t turn out horrible so I feel like I am able to share this photos with this cut crease look. Hope you like them!

Here is the list of all the products I used (in order of applying it):

  • NYX Proof it! eye shadow primer
  • Tanya Burr Cosmetics Selfie Sculpt in medium
  • Too Faced Chocolate bar, Salted Caramel, Milk Chocolate, Semi-Sweet in the crease and Marzipan on the lid
  • MUR Define and Conceal concealer in the shade C0.5 to carve out the crease
  • Rimmel Exaggerate black eyeliner to tightline
  • Eyeko Skinny Liquid black eyeliner
  • Benefit Porefessionals Primer
  • Maybelline Superstay Foundation in True Ivory
  • Maybelline Mastercameo colour correcting pen in pink for my under eyes
  • MUR Concealer in 0.5 and C1 for undereyes
  • Rimmel Match Perfection face powder for baking under the eyes
  • Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine mattifying powder for my face
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer
  • Miss Sporty Insta Glow Blusher in Shiny Coral
  • Tanya Burr Cosmetics Beautifully Defined palette for highlighter
  • Benefit Roller Last Mascara
  • Charlotte Tilbury Lip liner in Pillowtalk
  • Tanya Burr Cosmetics Birthday Cake lipstick on top

I hope you like this make up look, it is nothing complicated but I think it looks really pretty. I actually sort of regretted adding the winged liner, I think it would look pretty without it. I will definitely create more looks like this and might even try to do a halo eye one day…

NYX Powder Puff Lippie

This was such an interesting concept form NYX and I bought two shades months ago and then I was just unmotivated to blog and all… but here I am finally giving my thoughts on this product. So let’s just get straight into it.

Firstly I got the shades Cool intentions and Moody, actually I think they will be pretty good shade choices for the coming Autumn. So the product comes out at the end through the applicator as a cream and then it turns into a mousse-y kind of powder when you apply it to the lips. The application is really easy. I find it really comfortable to wear, actually not even feeling like I have anything on my lips.

1535401821685472739850.jpg

153540142356285039579.jpg

15354015373662039995010.jpg

They are pigmented and I don’t find them drying on my lips, however with the shade Moody I did notice it started bleeding after a few hours so would definitely recommend using a lip liner with it.

They don’t feel tacky on the lips, like I said they feel like nothing on the lips. They have a matte finish, which I generally prefer, however unfortunately they do not dry down completely, I don’t think they’re supposed to, so naturally you have to keep reapplying hem throughout the day especially after eating.

I do like these lippies, the only thing I don’t like about them is what I just mentioned. I prefer lipstick that dry down and stay in place. But nontheless I will still use them, cause they are really pretty and comfortable on the lips.

Have you tried this product before? What did you think? If you haven’t, do you want to try them? Let’s have a chat in the comments!

Hope you liked reading this blog post and…

Trying out Maybelline’s Color Tattoo 24HR

Since the weather has been so nice and warm in there past few weeks, I haven’t worn a lot of make up on my face, but I have been really missing eyeshadows so I picked up this gel-cream eyeshadow by Maybelline as I thought it would be so easy to use.

I picked up the shade Pink Gold and I really like it. It is easy to apply, I use my fingers to do so. One thing is important, you have to use a primer with this. I assume the 24HR means it should be long lasting, but without a primer it starts to crease within a few hours, but with a primer it last all day.

15315762513201015910847.jpg

15315761080911369493503.jpg

15315760181302088919379.jpg

I also tried it with a powder on top, but that is not necessary as it dries down and stays in place. I also use a setting spray with it. But I feel like the primer makes a huge difference and actually makes the product long lasting.

I really like the colour, it has good pigmentation, I think it goes well with my brown eyes. I have always enjoyed using pink shimmery eyeshadows. Also it’s just pretty perfect for summer I think.

Overall, if you’re looking for something very simple to apply on your eyelids, I would recommend picking up a shade from this range.

Hope you liked this post. What is your go to eyeshadow in the summer or do you even apply any when it’s too hot outside? Let me know.

Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara review

I have had this mascara sitting in my drawer for months now and I finally opened it up and started using it. I found this mascara in TK Maxx for £4. Since Covergirl is not available in the UK I was really happy to have found it. I just could not leave it there. So this is the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara.

The first very noticeable thing is that it has a stiff applicator with little bristles in the end. It is quite hard of a material so I’d say be careful when applying as it can be a little hard on the roots of the lashes. I can feel it scratch it sometimes when I apply too close to the roots.

For the first layer it is quite subtle, but it can definitely be build up. I think it’s good that it can be worn just easy everyday mascara with just a few layers or can be layered up for a more dramatic look.

As the name would suggest it does not clump up, which is a bonus, I am not really a big fan of clumpy lashes and this mascara does a good job of separating my lashes yet still giving them volume and thickness.

wp-15286322983212087222483.jpg

psx_20180610_130036601853007.jpg

I would say it is very black, which is what I like, and also waterproof. I does stay put all day, does not print anywhere around my eye, even when I’m just sweating so much.

For a waterproof mascara I was worried that taking it ott would be hard, but it actually comes off fairly easily. I tried it both with a make up remover and a cotton pad, also with cleansing butter. Both ways remover any traces of mascara.

I will be definitely using this mascara a lot, because I find it is perfect for summery sweaty days when I don’t have to worry about it running down my face.

Hope you liked this review, and let me know if you tried this mascara or any other mascara by Covergirl!

Birchbox made me buy it

If you regularly read my blog you know that I am subscribed to Birchbox. If you don’t know what Birchbox is, it is a subscription box service, where every month they will send you a box containing five beauty samples tailored for your beauty needs. I love trying out new products, and it’s great cuz in a lot of the cases you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a product you might not even like.

I want to make this into a series of blog posts eventually. I wanted to make a blog post about the products Birchbox made me buy (bit of a cheating cuz I only bought two of these products, but only because I have not run out of the samples yet, but will definitely purchase the other two as well).

psx_20180316_101741407748754.jpg

So let’s start with two of the hair products. One of them is a Batiste Dry Shampoo 2 in 1 that I believe I got in my first ever Birchbox. I like it because it is not heavy in my hair and it also conditions my hair too. I like to use it on my second day, just before I go to bed, spraying it on my roots. I like doing it this way because it can really then soak up the grease overnight. It makes my third day hair look semi good, just enough to get through the day before I wash it in the evening.

psx_20180316_101601671007015.jpg

The other hair product is the Percy and Reed No Oil Oil . I really enjoy using this product! You don’t need to use a lot, I use 2-3 pumps for my hair (medium length). It gives volume, the fact I like about it is that it makes my parting not that obvious to see. I have thick hair, however I don’t have a lot of hair and my parting is usually very obvious. But when I use this it makes my hair look fuller and more. Also it does not weight down my hair at all, or makes it more greasy which is a huge plus! Once I run out of the sample I will be purchasing the full size for sure!

psx_20180316_101653912345456.jpg

Speaking of purchasing products in full size, I’ve just ordered my second “bottle” of this natural deodorant. First I was reluctant to try it, just cuz I’m so used to traditional deodorants that using this balm felt really weird, but luckily I gave in and tried it and now I love it. I use it every evening after showering. It definitely keeps the smelliness away. I do obviously sweat still but it is not smelly at all. Also a huge plus that it is made of natural ingredients, it makes me so happy I’m not using any chemicals around that area of my body.

psx_20180316_1014461697325491.jpg

The last thing again is still a sample size product that I have not run out yet, but has fallen in love with. Because of my oily skin I like to apply no cream to my face in the evenings after doing my skincare routine, but recently I have noticed my skin actually craving moisture in the evenings as well so this night cream came very handy. It is a night cream by Thermaliv. It makes my skin feel really smooth and soft by the morning, and it doesn’t make it oily either which was something I was worried about. I think it would work really well for any skin type, especially if you have dry skin. Highly recommend!

So this was the first blog post of this series, I will try to do more, it will depend on how many products I purchase from Birchbox, but until then I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post!

Maybelline Superstay Foundation

I think Maybelline are killing it at the moment with their ‘superstay’ products. I loved the Superstay Matte Inks, and I have heard good things about this foundation so I decided to pick it up, and it turned out to be one of the best purchases ever!

psx_20180313_105028218130798.jpg

psx_20180313_1054101959907010.jpg

So let’s start with the packaging. It is in a glass bottle, that comes with a pump, which I love, as it allows much more control and you won’t waste a lot of products. The consistency is not too liquidy nor too thick, but the thing I love about this foundation is that when you put it on your face it looks matte straight away! Like it has dried already, with saying that, I don’t find it drying at all. I have never put on a foundation that was like that. They always look wet and you have to wait for them to dry, but not with this one.

I would say it gives full coverage, without being heavy on the skin. I only use one pump and apply it with a brush. I love that you don’t need to use a lot of product for perfect coverage and it almost looks like it is your second skin. It is easily blendable too.

psx_20180313_105124891824634.jpg

psx_20180313_105242267520882.jpg

It does stay on my face all day, but I prefer to set it with a setting spray still, just to make sure. As for oiliness, so far this is the best foundation I have tried to keep my shiny forehead at bay.

Overall I think I am in love with this foundation, can’t stop reaching for it. I love the finish it gives to my skin, I could even get away with not setting it with powder, even on my oily T-zone! It looks that good on the skin! I don’t think I’ll be switching up my foundation anytime soon!

I hope you liked this review and please share your thoughts on this foundation, curious to see if anyone loves it as much as I do!

NYX Setting Spray

Settings sprays have changed my life, or at least my make up game for sure. Whenever I used blush and highlighter on my cheeks, I noticed it was gone from my skin after a few hours, and I really didn’t like that. But setting them with a spray means I can actually see my highlighter after wearing it for 10 hrs. If you like to wear a full face of make up, then I think a setting spray should be an essential last step in your routine.

I used to use The Body Shop Vitamin E Mist to set my make up and I really liked using that, but I wanted something that would keep my face as matte as possible all day (#oilyskinproblems). So I decided to pick up the NXY Make Up Setting Spray Matte Finish as I have heard good things about it. I picked up the mattifying one obviously, as they have another one that gives a dewy finish, but it is all about the matte look for me, having an oily skin and all.

psx_20180312_233356547656976.jpg

psx_20180312_233218147080158.jpg

It is a nice mist to use, definitely finer mist that The Body Shop one. I like how it feels on my skin. Like it’s locked all the make up in place without making my skin feel too hard, if that makes sense. It dries down quickly and does not leave my face feeling tacky.

I still get oily on my forehead and cheeks by the end of the day (feel like that’s not really gonna change ever haha), but I definitely notice the effects of using a mattifying primer, a matte foundation and a matte setting spray. They keep the shine to a minimum. The oiliness used to break through after a few hours, whereas now, it is slower and not as heavy on my skin by the end of the day. Not to mention my blush and highlight last all day which I really really like. Especially with powder highlights, it makes the highlight melt into the skin and takes away all the powderiness too.

I think this is a good setting spray from the drugstore, only for £7. Never disappointed in NYX products, it is turning into my fave brand slowly.

I hope you liked this review. Did you ever try this setting spray? Which one is your favourite setting spray?

Until next time,

Agota xx

My new fave blush

I have quite a fair skin, basically I am really really pale, and that sometimes causes me a bit of a trouble when applying blush. I used to not even use it just cuz I was so bad at applying it. But with the years and practise I think I got okay at it. I’m still afraid that sometimes I look like a clown but using lighter shades and a good brush made a huge difference. I started enjoying using a blush, even got a couple new shades. But I never ever dared to use a cream blush. I’ve always thought that they are so hard to blend, and it would look streaky on my face. But I received this blush in January’s Birchbox , gave it a try and now it is my go to, new fave blush.

psx_20180306_124403708109249.jpg

So this blusher crayon is by a brand called Lord and Berry (never heard of them before Birchbox) in the shade in Camelia. It is really creamy, easy to blend out. I just simply do a couple of lines on my cheeks and blend is out with a brush, that works better for me than  using my fingers. It has a nice pink shade perfect for my complexion and it just blends into the skin like a dream, giving me a really natural look. I am actually impressed. I did not think I would like a crayon blush, but I have been using it almost every day since I got it.

psx_20180306_1248391995059683.jpg

psx_20180306_1250102029526876.jpg

I do use a setting spray and with that it stays on all day and I usually have my make up on my face for 12 hrs. Although it does not claim to be long lasting it is a nice benefit. If you’re looking for a cream blush (I guess this still counts as cream, just because it is in a pencil/stick from), I would highly recommend getting this one. It retails for £15 on the Birchbox website. I think it is not too expensive as it will last a long time, I have been using it for two months and only sharpened it twice.

I hope you liked this post, I really enjoy sharing great beauty finds like this! Do you prefer cream blushes or powder ones? Which one is your fave?

Until next time,

Agota xx
