What I’m taking on holiday with me

Currently it is 24 degrees outside which makes me really happy so I thought this would be the best time to write the blog post I have wanted to write about what I’m gonna take on holiday with me. I’m going to visit my home country for two weeks at the end of May. I already know the weather there is presumably gonna be quite hot so I don’t need to take a lot of make up with me cuz they just melt off of my face. However I still like to take some essential make up products to make me look semi okay even when it’s boiling hot outside. So I’m gonna list here all the products that I’m taking on holiday with me…

psx_20180509_1051191989247538.jpg

First one is a brow pencil from Tanya Burr Cosmetics, and it is their Selfie Scuplt in the shade medium. I use this everyday anyway and I feel like if nothing else is done on my face when I do my brows it makes such a difference. So that is something I couldn’t go away without.

I absolutely hate applying foundation to my face when it’s hot outside. It legit just melts form your face within a few hours, leaving you all patchy. Plus just the feeling of chemicals burning into my skin is something I cannot stand. With that said I still like to hide my dark undereyes and red spots if I have any, so I will take a concealer with me. But I absolutely try and use it to the minimum. I will take my trusty MUR concealer that will give me enough coverage and will be long lasting on my skin.

psx_20180509_105241248549835.jpg

The only thing I actually am bothered with is my eyes. I will not apply eyeshadow, again it will melt off, but cannot go without a mascara. I will purchase a big sized Benefit Roller Lash as I have just run out on my mini, and it’s cheaper at the airport to buy. I love this mascara and it will be so pretty on my lashes. With that said I will also take my another essential eye make up product, the Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in black which stays put on my tightline and doesn’t run down under my eyes.

psx_20180509_1049331393724828.jpg

When I’m going out in the evening I will put something on my cheeks just to give them a little somethin’ somethin’. I really like to use the cheek illuminators from Tanya Burr Cosmetics. I will use Holiday Happiness as a blush and Forever Summer as a highlighter. I think they will be perfect and just enough with my minimalist holiday make up look.

So that is all the make up I will be taking with me. I cannot wait for the two week holiday, to be off from work and I will go through some big changes too which makes me very excited too. Hope you enjoyed this blog post. What are your go to make up bits to take on holiday with you?

Until next time,

Agota xx

April Favourites

I can’t actually remember the last time I did a monthly favourites blog post so I’m excited to share with you what I have been loving in this month. I feel like I have not tried any new product before this month really but I have new make up bits I love and old ones I rediscovered, so let’s get into the blog post…

psx_20180502_1042222036858448.jpg

psx_20180502_1034051195185250.jpg

psx_20180502_103216779400803.jpg

psx_20180502_1033051667177717.jpg

For so long, well all my life possibly, I have been “blessed” with dark undereyes. I doesn’t really matter what cream I put there, they will still be quite dark. I have been using concealers to cover it up, of course, then I saw someone on a YT talking about this product then it hit me, why have I never tried a colour corrector?? So I ordered the Maybelline MasterCamo color correcting pen in pink. I was so surprised how much it cancels out the blue under my eyes. I use concealer after applying this and together they cover up the darkness pretty well. The only thing I’m not really happy with is the twisty applicator… I twist it and have to wait for the product to come out and then later I notice a lot of product coming out, which I still use of course, but you do have to be careful with that. Other than that I’m very happy with this new discovery.

psx_20180502_103800428883902.jpg

psx_20180502_10411270184134.jpg

I don’t really know why I picked up this eyeshadow palette from Superdrug, I mean I have enough nude coloured eyeshadows, but this palette still caught my eyes, and really can you ever have enough nude eyeshadows?? I think no, haha. So this is a palette from Maxfactor with the prettiest shades ever. I like that it has matte and shimmery shadows in it too. I mostly use the mattes one for everyday, also the shimmery shades are very, very shimmery. I think it is good for travelling or going on holiday as you can create really natural looks as well as looks for the evening when you want to go out. Not mad at all that I purchased it.

psx_20180502_1036421079268903.jpg

psx_20180502_1035201242426327.jpg

The next favourite is a product I’m not sure I actually love but yet somehow I keep reaching for it a lot. I got a sample of it in March’s Birchbox and this is the new mascara from Benefit, the BadGal Bang mascara. At first I didn’t really like this mascara, but I can’t deny that it gives big long lashes, I still find it a bit clumpy and I’m still not a big fan of that, but I think it is getting better as it is drying out a little bit. I’m not sure if I would buy it again when this runs out, probably not, but I have to say it is not as bad as I first thought it was. Also I really like how it looks on the bottom lashes.

psx_20180502_1040131324221548.jpg

And lastly I have been loving the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit. (it is a sample size from Birchbox) For so long I have thought it was too dark for my skintone, but it is actually looking really nice when I blend it out. After using a cream contour for so long it was weird to use a powder one and I think powder takes longer for me to blend out. But I have been reaching for this every day this month, really loving the way it shapes my face, and just really enjoyed using it.

So these were all the products I have been loving in the month of April. Have you tried any of these products? What have been your faves this month?

Until next time,

Agota xx

April Birchbox

I know everybody says it but I’m so happy we had a few sunny and warm days in the UK. It instantly put me in a better mood and even though it is currently raining outside I still feel like I can get ready for summer, cuz it is well on the way. I have had a busy month, so this Birchbox review is a little late than usual, but I still wanted to write this blog post. The box itself is soo springy and pretty, I can’t get over it. This month’s box is a collaboration with Cath Kidston and I was really excited to receive it. So let’s see what my box contained…

psx_20180422_142137880732543.jpg

psx_20180422_1423091911196727.jpg

psx_20180422_1426301081111969.jpg

First thing is my fave thing in the box and it is an original Cath Kidston hand creme. I love hand creams I use them all year around so I’m always happy to add a new one to my collection. It smells so gorgeous, flowery, perfect for spring. It sinks in quickly too which is a huge bonus. It is sitting on my desk and I keep reaching for it a lot.

psx_20180422_1424262135384155.jpg

So the second thing is a ModelCo Baked Highlighter, and it is so tiny, probably the smallest product sample I have ever got. I chose it in the shade Frose and it has a pinky undertone, which I like in my highlighters. It is gonna be a perfect addition to my spring make up looks.

psx_20180422_1429441056127575.jpg

psx_20180422_1430511378152948.jpg

Another beauty product I have got is a Beautaniq Beauty Fill and Tame brow gel. It is a vegan formula which is great and it is enriched with aloe leaf extract so it is nourishing for the brows. Also contains glycerin so the brows won’t get crunchy or sticky which is often my issue with brow gels. I like the sound of these and I think it will a perfect product to use after I just got my brows filled in.

psx_20180422_1428211148460563.jpg

I feel like this box is very make up heavy, four product out of five, but I’m not complaining about it haha. So the next sample is a BB cream by Marcelle. It is supposed to hydrate and smooth your skin, giving you a glow that I guess you would want to wear in the spring and summer. It looks a little dark at first but when you blended out it looks better on the skin. As the weather is getting warmer it will be nice to use this instead of a foundation.

psx_20180422_1431521353259429.jpg

Lastly there were a skin care sample in the box too. I got the Lumene Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream. I have actually tried this but only once, I felt like it was a bit heavy on my skin like I could definitely felt like I had applied something onto my face. It did make my skin nice and soft by the morning, but I’ll be careful to use it just because of my oily skin. It has couldberry seed extract , vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to help your skin be luminous by the morning.

So this is all I had in April’s Birchbox, I hope you  enjoyed reading it. Have you tried any of these products before?

Until next time,

Agota

Discovering Bristol

Heeey there! Sorry for the little break in blog posts I have been abit busy with life and all but I’m back now! So you probably don’t know this about me but I currently live in Bristol and have been for the last four years. I moved here in 2014 from Hungary, which was the biggest step in my life so far (possibly a story for another blog post). Ever since I started my blog I knew I wanted to write a post like that. I like looking at photos of places so I decided it was the time for me to try and do a blog post about the places I have discovered and enjoy visiting in Bristol.

I have been to a few places around the city, have a few fave spots too. I took a few photos the past few weeks and I thought it would be cool to share them with you! Bristol is an industrial city and I think it shows, but there are very pretty parts of it too and these pics I took only show a few of those places.

I hope you enjoy the photos!

My body lotion collection

Now that hopefully the cold and dry months are coming to an end, I decided to share all the products that have helped my dry body to survive. I have no idea how I accumulated this many body butters and lotions and cream, but I do like each one of them because of their different consistency. And I like to use them different times too and my body needs them.

psx_20180319_104736332629382.jpg

psx_20180319_104512687543925.jpg

I like to use a body butters when my skin feels really dry and I can feel it needing a lot of moisture. However I do not like the thick consistency that much I have to be honest. I usually use these on the weekend, or on days when I can stay in my pjs all day. Because trying to put on skinny jeans after putting on body butter is just the worst! I have The Body Shop Peach body butter, I do love the smell of it, it’s so good! I also have the Snowella Snow Smooth body butter, which has a lighter consistency and it makes my feel skin really smooth actually. I also have another body butter from Soap and Glory, their Daily Smooth body butter, which is not as thick as the Body Shop one, but again I really like the smell, and it sinks in a bit faster.

psx_20180319_104621793452994.jpg

I much prefer lotions and creams, but my fave is probably a whipped body lotion. I enjoy using the Zoella Double Cream body lotion, mostly for the scent. Although it does a good job at moisturizing my skin. My two faves have to be the Zoella Body Pudding, which I like because it sinks in so fast, and it’s just so easy and moisturizing. The other favourite of mine is the Soap and Glory Smoothie Star body lotion. It is a not as light as the body pudding, but sinks is fairly quickly and just love love the smell of it too. Goes perfectly with my same scented shower cream.

So this is my body butter/cream/lotion collection. I hope you liked this blog post and please share your faves in the comments!

Until next time,

Birchbox made me buy it

If you regularly read my blog you know that I am subscribed to Birchbox. If you don’t know what Birchbox is, it is a subscription box service, where every month they will send you a box containing five beauty samples tailored for your beauty needs. I love trying out new products, and it’s great cuz in a lot of the cases you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a product you might not even like.

I want to make this into a series of blog posts eventually. I wanted to make a blog post about the products Birchbox made me buy (bit of a cheating cuz I only bought two of these products, but only because I have not run out of the samples yet, but will definitely purchase the other two as well).

psx_20180316_101741407748754.jpg

So let’s start with two of the hair products. One of them is a Batiste Dry Shampoo 2 in 1 that I believe I got in my first ever Birchbox. I like it because it is not heavy in my hair and it also conditions my hair too. I like to use it on my second day, just before I go to bed, spraying it on my roots. I like doing it this way because it can really then soak up the grease overnight. It makes my third day hair look semi good, just enough to get through the day before I wash it in the evening.

psx_20180316_101601671007015.jpg

The other hair product is the Percy and Reed No Oil Oil . I really enjoy using this product! You don’t need to use a lot, I use 2-3 pumps for my hair (medium length). It gives volume, the fact I like about it is that it makes my parting not that obvious to see. I have thick hair, however I don’t have a lot of hair and my parting is usually very obvious. But when I use this it makes my hair look fuller and more. Also it does not weight down my hair at all, or makes it more greasy which is a huge plus! Once I run out of the sample I will be purchasing the full size for sure!

psx_20180316_101653912345456.jpg

Speaking of purchasing products in full size, I’ve just ordered my second “bottle” of this natural deodorant. First I was reluctant to try it, just cuz I’m so used to traditional deodorants that using this balm felt really weird, but luckily I gave in and tried it and now I love it. I use it every evening after showering. It definitely keeps the smelliness away. I do obviously sweat still but it is not smelly at all. Also a huge plus that it is made of natural ingredients, it makes me so happy I’m not using any chemicals around that area of my body.

psx_20180316_1014461697325491.jpg

The last thing again is still a sample size product that I have not run out yet, but has fallen in love with. Because of my oily skin I like to apply no cream to my face in the evenings after doing my skincare routine, but recently I have noticed my skin actually craving moisture in the evenings as well so this night cream came very handy. It is a night cream by Thermaliv. It makes my skin feel really smooth and soft by the morning, and it doesn’t make it oily either which was something I was worried about. I think it would work really well for any skin type, especially if you have dry skin. Highly recommend!

So this was the first blog post of this series, I will try to do more, it will depend on how many products I purchase from Birchbox, but until then I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post!

Until next time,

Maybelline Superstay Foundation

I think Maybelline are killing it at the moment with their ‘superstay’ products. I loved the Superstay Matte Inks, and I have heard good things about this foundation so I decided to pick it up, and it turned out to be one of the best purchases ever!

psx_20180313_105028218130798.jpg

psx_20180313_1054101959907010.jpg

So let’s start with the packaging. It is in a glass bottle, that comes with a pump, which I love, as it allows much more control and you won’t waste a lot of products. The consistency is not too liquidy nor too thick, but the thing I love about this foundation is that when you put it on your face it looks matte straight away! Like it has dried already, with saying that, I don’t find it drying at all. I have never put on a foundation that was like that. They always look wet and you have to wait for them to dry, but not with this one.

I would say it gives full coverage, without being heavy on the skin. I only use one pump and apply it with a brush. I love that you don’t need to use a lot of product for perfect coverage and it almost looks like it is your second skin. It is easily blendable too.

psx_20180313_105124891824634.jpg

psx_20180313_105242267520882.jpg

It does stay on my face all day, but I prefer to set it with a setting spray still, just to make sure. As for oiliness, so far this is the best foundation I have tried to keep my shiny forehead at bay.

Overall I think I am in love with this foundation, can’t stop reaching for it. I love the finish it gives to my skin, I could even get away with not setting it with powder, even on my oily T-zone! It looks that good on the skin! I don’t think I’ll be switching up my foundation anytime soon!

I hope you liked this review and please share your thoughts on this foundation, curious to see if anyone loves it as much as I do!

Until next time,

Agota xx

NYX Setting Spray

Settings sprays have changed my life, or at least my make up game for sure. Whenever I used blush and highlighter on my cheeks, I noticed it was gone from my skin after a few hours, and I really didn’t like that. But setting them with a spray means I can actually see my highlighter after wearing it for 10 hrs. If you like to wear a full face of make up, then I think a setting spray should be an essential last step in your routine.

I used to use The Body Shop Vitamin E Mist to set my make up and I really liked using that, but I wanted something that would keep my face as matte as possible all day (#oilyskinproblems). So I decided to pick up the NXY Make Up Setting Spray Matte Finish as I have heard good things about it. I picked up the mattifying one obviously, as they have another one that gives a dewy finish, but it is all about the matte look for me, having an oily skin and all.

psx_20180312_233356547656976.jpg

psx_20180312_233218147080158.jpg

It is a nice mist to use, definitely finer mist that The Body Shop one. I like how it feels on my skin. Like it’s locked all the make up in place without making my skin feel too hard, if that makes sense. It dries down quickly and does not leave my face feeling tacky.

I still get oily on my forehead and cheeks by the end of the day (feel like that’s not really gonna change ever haha), but I definitely notice the effects of using a mattifying primer, a matte foundation and a matte setting spray. They keep the shine to a minimum. The oiliness used to break through after a few hours, whereas now, it is slower and not as heavy on my skin by the end of the day. Not to mention my blush and highlight last all day which I really really like. Especially with powder highlights, it makes the highlight melt into the skin and takes away all the powderiness too.

I think this is a good setting spray from the drugstore, only for £7. Never disappointed in NYX products, it is turning into my fave brand slowly.

I hope you liked this review. Did you ever try this setting spray? Which one is your favourite setting spray?

Until next time,

Agota xx

My new fave blush

I have quite a fair skin, basically I am really really pale, and that sometimes causes me a bit of a trouble when applying blush. I used to not even use it just cuz I was so bad at applying it. But with the years and practise I think I got okay at it. I’m still afraid that sometimes I look like a clown but using lighter shades and a good brush made a huge difference. I started enjoying using a blush, even got a couple new shades. But I never ever dared to use a cream blush. I’ve always thought that they are so hard to blend, and it would look streaky on my face. But I received this blush in January’s Birchbox , gave it a try and now it is my go to, new fave blush.

psx_20180306_124403708109249.jpg

So this blusher crayon is by a brand called Lord and Berry (never heard of them before Birchbox) in the shade in Camelia. It is really creamy, easy to blend out. I just simply do a couple of lines on my cheeks and blend is out with a brush, that works better for me than  using my fingers. It has a nice pink shade perfect for my complexion and it just blends into the skin like a dream, giving me a really natural look. I am actually impressed. I did not think I would like a crayon blush, but I have been using it almost every day since I got it.

psx_20180306_1248391995059683.jpg

psx_20180306_1250102029526876.jpg

I do use a setting spray and with that it stays on all day and I usually have my make up on my face for 12 hrs. Although it does not claim to be long lasting it is a nice benefit. If you’re looking for a cream blush (I guess this still counts as cream, just because it is in a pencil/stick from), I would highly recommend getting this one. It retails for £15 on the Birchbox website. I think it is not too expensive as it will last a long time, I have been using it for two months and only sharpened it twice.

I hope you liked this post, I really enjoy sharing great beauty finds like this! Do you prefer cream blushes or powder ones? Which one is your fave?

Until next time,

Agota xx

New L’Oreal bits

Unfortunately I discovered how easy it is to order from Superdrug. I say unfortunately because I often find it hard to stop myself from ordering something new all the time. I blame the free delivery over £10. I mean most places you have to spend £15 or £20 at least to be able to order things to your house. And let’s be honest it is the easiest thing in the world to spend £10 in Superdrug. So after rambling on about this, and the point I was rambling about this is because, I was browsing through the website and some new bits from L’Oreal peeked my interest and I had to order them…

psx_20180306_125815787144673.jpg

I have been looking for a new primer that is mattifying, as I have been struggling to keep my forehead matte all day. I love using the Benefit Porefessionals on my cheeks, it does a great job of filling in my gigantic pores. But I needed something different for my forehead, because that’s where I tend to get the most oily. So I decided to pick up the Infallible Priming Base. I have to say it does a good job of keeping my face as matte as possible during the day. I has a very liquidy texture and a little goes a long way. It makes my skin feel very smooth and even. Also I have no trouble applying foundation over it. I think it is a great drugstore primer if you, like me, have oily skin.

psx_20180306_130042505430223.jpg

psx_20180306_125951565002966.jpg

psx_20180306_1301371923804010.jpg

psx_20180306_130310544184155.jpg

The next two items I really liked and ordered were the Infallible Color Riche Crayon eyeliners in two shades, I’ve got black (which is funnily the blue one) and Violet, which is the purple one. I was sooo excited to get these. You already know from my love for the NYX Vivid Bright eyeliners, that I like to go for coloured eyeliner from time to time. These are incredible as they stay put all day and they do not budge at all! There were no prints on my eyelid by the end of the day, it wasn’t running down under my eyes either. I find the blue one to be more vibrant and very, very pigmented. The purple one is pigmented too, but has a little bit of a sheen to it as well, while the blue one is completely matte. I like to use them over my black eyeliner as a little bit of somethin’ somethin’. I also used the purple one on my bottom lash line and I really liked how that looked.

So these were a few make up bits that I got from L’Oreal recently and have been using a lot. Have you tried any of these product? What is your fave product from L’Oreal?

Until next time,

Agota xx
